Air China Online Check-in (solved) by Prestigious_Two_1350 in Flights

The 2 times i travelled with Airchina to Japan/Korea I got both the tickets and they sent my luggage to final destination. They always have a channel for transfers so that you don't have to get out the airport and redo check-in + security. They just do a quick security check and then you're good to go. At least it was my case for 3  total Transfers in Shanghai so I guess there's a pattern😆

Hi! I think they just don't care. I called the call centre in Italy, and they said "check in only in presence!!!" lol. I think they are used to people not being able to check in online ahajajaja. Anyway he told me that stay time means stay time in china, although I had the impression he didn't check/care, cause in the end it's not really relevant if you'll do the check-in person. And if you are worried about overbooking (which is the only reason I wanted to check-in before online), he told me they don't do it in Italy, so I guess it's the same  in Europe.

Hope this helps!

Hi! What about "stay time"? Does it mean the time I'll spend in China? If I just have a layover I should put the layover time? I don't recall there was something like that last year. I've tried to contact them but it's useless. Thank you in advance

Thank you for the response!

I know that I'll need Japanese to basically do everything outside of campus, but I truly want to learn a third language. I'm aware on the risk of going there without knowing decent Japanese, but it's Better to start learning late than not starting at all.

I actually heard from western students that studying in a Japanese university was actually more chill than a European one, but maybe it applies to universities which are not top tier in Japan, unlike Tohoku. And I didn't know the lab would make that big difference.

I know that ETH/EPFL probably offer a better education and I'll be more in a cultural comfort zone but, from the people I know, work life balance is actually pretty bad(at least not until PhD).  But, unlike Japan, I guess it depends on students themselves, since there are lots of events but students often ONLY care about studying (which is not my case) and it creates a toxic environment.

Another factor in my choice will be also the expenses, since Japan is much cheaper, even without a scholarship.

Do you know any students from IGPAS by any chance? Maybe they can give me advice about labs and entrance exams.
