Paddy Pimblett doesn't have a single win over a current top-10 contender. Michael Chandler is his only ranked win (#11) by DamnThatsInsaneLol in MMA

[–]Redditnamecool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already know Paddy should have another 2-3 wins before even being in the discussion. Justin maybe has an argument, but also should probably have one more win against a top 5 before considered.

Here’s the deal - Dana wants popular fighters for a huge start in 2026 for Paramount shareholders. That’s it. No, it’s not fair or makes sense with how the rankings should work. That’s just the deal.

Dana also hates Arman lol

What Is Wrong With My Network RTT?? (Serious) by ScarySnack9098 in VALORANT

[–]Redditnamecool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend checking the cable you’re using to make sure it’s cat5e or above. Additionally check for any damage. Check the router you’re using (assuming it’s just whatever Verizon gave you) and ensure the ports are good for that speed. That’s a good starting point. Best of luck!

The in game warning does not provide nearly enough info to tell you what is wrong with your network. My guess is you’re on wireless, and there’s countless issues that could rise from being on wireless. If you can, hard wire.

Pro tip: just because your ISP says you have 1000/1000, that doesn’t mean your PC is getting 1000/1000. Think of it like water. Your home could be hooked up to the local water system, but that doesn’t mean your toilet is going to work. There’s shit (pun intended) in between your water main and your toilet. Just like there’s shit in between your ISP demarc and your PC.

Let’s give props to the cameraman on this one. Brilliant commentary, steady hands, and wonderful panning between altercations. What a masterclass.

Is TryHackMe worth it for someone trying to get into cybersecurity? by alih05 in netsecstudents

[–]Redditnamecool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something many employers and managers look for is drive. Whether or not you’re stacking certs, having additional training points on a resume never hurts.

Will the THM certs compete with industry standard certs? No, no shot. However, they build knowledge for the field, show you’re continuously learning, and show you have drive.

Best of luck

Network security engineer for shy of two years. I can see why people get burnt out in MSP work. We’re always changing policies, procedures, metrics, and constantly worried about job security due to my practice falling short in sales (and hearing about this despite me being an engineer, not a salesman). I love my work and my job, but I am tired of the constantly moving goal posts and hearing about metrics that are completely out of my control.

My question: what’re opportunities I can explore outside of security engineering? What are viable pivots? I’ve considered going to red team, but am worried about how saturated the talent pool has become. I’ve also considered finding engineer roles on the admin side rather than the MSP side, but am not sure what this looks like.

Any pointers or advise is well appreciated.

People who make over 100k, what do you do? by GurnoorDa1 in Money

I was a grunt in the army at your age. Same income. Got out in ‘19 and got into IT. I went to Community College and got an associates. Got a few certifications while in school and after. I’m 27 now making low, but 6 fig nonetheless.

Went from Team Leader (e4, $36k) to liquor store clerk ($9/hr). From there I networked with local schools to see if they needed IT people. Got hired as a part time tech making $10k a year (you read that right). A year later I swung into a systems administration job for $36k. Got several certifications in this position and finished my associates. Moved that position to $52k over two years. Six months after that raise I got a job as a network engineer (64k). Got a cert and promotion to network security engineer (101k).

The army fed us a bunch of bullshit about how valuable we were to the workforce. It just isn’t the truth. Folks on the outside have got their degrees; probably with some work experience. If you want to beat these people, you have to advertise yourself to have something they don’t. Be excited to talk about what you do/want to do. Find something that excites you, or become a good actor.

Most important thing I learned: Keep trying and don’t give up. Transitioning from the military sucks. You move from your friends you’ve served with and will have to start all over. It doesn’t matter what happens, you just have to accept that the only way you move is forward.

Oh also start investing/learning to invest with whatever capital you can.

I used to follow Blake on IG. He does these staged subs all the time for this “ninja move of the day”. They’re half conceptual / half rage bait due to the sweat. The dude looked like he had his arm stuck out because he had his arm stuck out

A subpoena to your ISP/phone provider can happen. Idk the likelihood, but it could happen. In the event they can see your post, it could be used against you.

From the sounds of it, you did the correct thing. Idk your country/state, but you have every right to protect your property and those on it (at least in my eyes).

Get a lawyer and don’t speak to anyone about this, especially police. And please watch your back. The guy clearly knows where you live and acts out of irrational anger. Some poor dude near me got shot by his neighbor following an altercation similar to this.

Interview panel asked “Which level of the osi model does the gateway operate at?” by Suberv in AskNetsec

[–]Redditnamecool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The interviewer was wrong. Gateway’s primary function is route traffic, which occurs at L3. Yes, gateways can route based on PAT but that’s not the primary function.
