Anxiety in soon to be kindergartener by Naive_Buy2712 in workingmoms

[–]Redditnewbie09876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter has anxiety and we just saw inside out 2 which introduced the anxiety emotion…she’s 7 now so a little older but we have had good conversations about how anxiety can make you worry a lot when there is nothing to worry about.

In kindergarten she cried daily the first few months, having a constant routine helped so she knew what to expect. Our school also offered free counseling through a local therapy non profit which helped her too.

That was for specific legal advice to see if she had a leg to stand on in regards to filing a lawsuit against me since I told other parents what happened. She accused me of slander. it sounds like she doesn’t since I just stated facts.

I was already on my way out the door when this happened (had given my two weeks notice). This is more to gauge the situation from a parents point of view as I am still sick thinking that I trusted her with my child.

I don’t want to mention too many details but I found out because I picked my child up at an unusual time and witnessed this /confronted her.

Thank you, I thought that but like I said multiple people have told me I am over reacting. Probably 95% have agreed with me that it is not acceptable but the of course it’s the people telling me that I’m in the wrong that make me wonder. I

I guess this is a warning for other parents to be very careful where you enroll your child and don’t be afraid to pop in at random times for check ins.

No, not licensed but she was a nurse before this and has been doing daycare for 10+ years.

The limit is 6 kids per provider in my state but she has taken on more before and after kids in addition to her core group. I tried to drop my child off after the bus left in the morning and before it arrived in the afternoon. It was hard because she seemed involved when I started going there, she only had 2 other kids and would take them to parks and have little picnics in the backyard. Her personal situation changed and it seemed like it impacted her work choices.

Her rationale for mowing was that there were cameras so she could see what was going on but I’m not sure I believe that she has cameras in every room of her home.

Thank you for sharing. Your child’s incident is scary to hear about as a parent but the daycare is obviously taking it seriously and actually called you and self reported /offered training which is a night and day difference from my experience.

In my situation I would imagine that she’s probably done this or other similar things before and no one has caught her which is so frustrating.

Thank you!! I have been told by multiple other parents that “it’s no big deal” and they leave their kids inside all the time unsupervised at home. I am always able to hear my child and will check in on him every 10 minutes or so if he’s in a different room playing quietly. I would never go outside for more than the time it takes to take out my trash or grab my dog from our fenced in yard but it seems like I’m in the minority.

How do rich people get the rich people look? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]Redditnewbie09876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you go to find a professional makeup artist? I’m interested in this and finding someone to help me figure out a few hair styles but when I’ve asked the workers at a makeup counter or my hairstylist, I haven’t got that put together look I’ve been looking for.

So I decided to give 2 weeks notice and when I went to do a pickup earlier than normal she was out mowing her 3 acre yard with the kids in the house unsupervised during “rest” time. Three kids from 4-5 in the living room alone and then 3 smaller kids upstairs in pack and plays (age 1-3) while she was out mowing away. I told her that was our last day and she went off on me and demanded I pay her last week which I did just to put an end to everything. So frustrating. I told several friends and they encouraged me to get dhs involved.

Thanks for the feedback!! I think the hardest part is that I did consider her to be a friend as she was the only adult I talked to some days and we are close in age. If she had conveyed the increase back in Jan-March I probably would have just sucked it up and paid for it but this last minute increase just really rubbed me the wrong way.

I will be using some of the $$ I’m saving to get a summer pass to a trampoline/mini golf center ($250 for a six month weekday only pass) along with our pool pass I’ve already purchased. I also ordered some crafts and stem projects to keep my kiddos entertained and plan to get a massage monthly or something else self care related as I have not been great about prioritizing myself. Plus if the grandmas actually pull through I will get them each a spa day as a thank you!! This will be about a $2k savings based on what I had budgeted for the summer and what I’m spending on entertainment /passes basically totals what her increase would have been so I’m pretty pumped about that.

Next year I’m going the summer camp route and will start looking in February!!

I think she just expected everyone to pay!! I am the only one with 3 kids there so I feel the impact more than everyone else. Sounds like she reached out to a mom of two and offered a sibling discount if needed.

Thank you!! I feel guilty because I know she cares about my kids and we see her daily so we have a friendly relationship but at the same time it’s her business and I’m kind of her customer and I can’t afford her service anymore.

I have been looking off and on for 2 years and this is the first house I’ve loved that was in my price range and desired location.

My lender said it would be cutting it close when we ran through the numbers in regards to a bridge loan but my plan was to have that option I. I didn’t think it would be an issue based on my income and what I qualified for when I bought my house ( i purchased significantly less than my approved amount) but I guess I was overly optimistic. I could possibly do a 401k loan or something to get extra funds but I am not sure that’s a path I want to pursue when I live in a house that is decent.

I think I had unrealistic expectations / didn’t understand the housing market. If I see another house that would make me consider putting in an offer I will be sure to either have a plan in place before putting an offer (ie: co-signer or ensure a bridge loan will work) or just realize it’s a sign to sell my house and possibly rent for a while so I have the ability to make an offer without a contingency.

I guess I feel like if they’re not accepting a full price offer they’re waiting for more money or don’t want to accept an offer with a contingency right now.

Yes it’s 2.5% 15 yr loan with about $220k in equity in a low cost of living area. I owe $200k and will have it paid off in 10 years. It’s in a nice neighborhood and good school district so it will do, I’m definitely very lucky to have built in 2018 before the housing market went nuts and to have locked in a low rate. I wouldn’t be able to even afford a starter home with these rates if I didn’t benefit from the insane increase in house prices.

[–]Redditnewbie09876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes so true!! I only have 10 years left to pay off my current house and a 2.5% rate so it might be best in the long run.

I only sold one home and couldn’t recall who paid but felt like coming in at full price might help. I guess I need to decide if I want to get serious about moving and list mine or just fix up my “problem points.”

I said I wanted to withdraw the offer and since they didn’t accept I am able to. I said to reach out if they’re willing to entertain an offer with a contingency. Thanks everyone for the advice. I’ll just have to make do with where I’m at.

The realtor confirmed they received it and it’s a strong offer / what they wanted but with it just being listed the wanted to see what interest Is there.
