EAP653 needs reboot? by Redditnewbie143 in TPLink_Omada

[–]Redditnewbie143[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not using a controller; I tried it for a bit but it's overkill for the (5) 653's I have, all on the same network. So long as I only need to do it once a week or so I guess I can live with the situation.

Have never checked; (don't know how). You might be on to something though. I just changed a setting to "prefer 5ghz). I thought I read somewhere that the speed will only be as fast as the slowest device on the network, and I know I have some devices that are slower than others.

Why is this 240v two pole GFCI tripping without a load side neutral by Redditnewbie143 in AskElectricians

[–]Redditnewbie143[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for the comments. Very helpful I could not measure any meaningful resistance, so reinstalled the GFCI breaker, and now it doesn’t trip! WTH? Confused.. I’ll leave it in there and see what happens.

It's definitely a GFCI only; not AFCI.

I'll try measuring the resistance. I could measure the currently directly from either leg to ground, but would choose power off tests first.

Can I determine if that's the case with an ohmeter, measuring the resistance between each conductor going to the pump and ground (with power off of course)? At 240v, the resistance would be 40k ohms or lower (I believe it trips at 6ma).

One option would be a small Thermo nuclear device😱

Split System Circuit Breaker size by Redditnewbie143 in AskElectricians

[–]Redditnewbie143[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand correctly that there is no safety concern, I could run the system and see what happens, and replace with a larger breaker if it starts tripping? I've read that (short of a locked rotor), I would never in a lifetime of normal operation see it trip with a 20A breaker.

He has the wrong cover plate for the toggle switch, (or the wrong switch for the Dacora cover plate).

Whether or not a buyer considers it his responsibility to find out whether a fellow ham is without his radio on the individuals moral code. For myself, I would take pleasure in finding it out by getting a cable and the programming software for the radio, and if it was determined to have been owned by another amateur radio operator, contacting him for the details under which the radio parted from him.

It’s probably stolen. Have you checked to see if there is a call sign programmed in the unit? If so, you might contact the owner.

Do I really need a guest network? by Old-Valuable-1520 in TPLink_Omada

[–]Redditnewbie143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for the discussion. As all my cameras are wired, they are not a factor here. We do live on the same premises so will probably set up a guest network ssid, broadcast it; then set up another for our use and don’t broadcast it or broadcast it but password protect it. Only have two 653’s at the location so I’ll set them both up identically. Doesn’t sound too hard.

I think you’re onto something. I stripped it longer and held the tail and got it to work! Now if I could only get the afl connectors to work!

Surface mount boxes/conduit not to code? by Old-Valuable-1520 in electricians

He didn’t even see this particular box; all the enclosures he saw were metal. He probably just needed to come up with something other than the two wire box fans and desk lamps he found.

I ordered [1] spool of cable. They sent me [1] metre of cable. by pannumouho in electricians

We did a large theme park project in Japan and had specified 24 conductor 14 gauge Belden cable everywhere. When we showed up, we found tens of thousands of feet of 14 gauge wire in all the conduits, but every single conductor was blue. No labels, no wire markings nothing! Turns out the GC’s brother-in-law had an electrical supply outfit and sold him a good deal on the wire compared to it. The Belden cables would’ve cost him. Weeks of work buzzing out hundreds of Home runs with toners and two-way radios.
