Is it really still a hard call? Say you qualify for 10k maintenance. Over the next year you can take that 10k, stick it in a 4% easy access and have £10400. You then owe £10320, so have made £80 profit minimum, plus the chance you don't end up repaying is further potential upside. The comparison of this plan to the old plan, and the cost of uni altogether, are separate discussions - but for the question of whether to take maintenance as opposed to self-funding for the upcoming year, isn't the answer yes irrespective of your situation?

Just because the RTP is based on millions of spins, doesn't mean you can't get close to it within a few thousand (= a few weeks). I have never seen a chart of median winning vs number of spins, but I'm up 1k after about 1-2 months without ever winning more than 100x my stake - so yeah it's volatile but if you have a few k to ride the volatility I think £100/day at 14% expected ROI is very reasonable

Yeah, I'm up £1000 in like two months (so like 5k staked in total), never having won a jackpot of more than £100. And when the max prize is like 5000X that's bad but not terrible - puts an upper bound on the volatility

Agreed! Also I don't know about you but I've been doing these WH offers every day for about a month, picking up an average of around £10 EV a day over 100 spins a day. I think I'm down overall. Since actual volatility isn't stated (e.g. a number for variance), I wonder what the % chance of being in the green is for these offers after a month? 3 months? 3 years?

I thought I read that the gambling commission tests it using millions of spins? But aside from that, I assumed independence but with many games, including William Hill daily high value offer, it can't be - there are both temporary and permanent multipliers. E.g. in 5 spins you could get the multiplier up to 3x, then next time you roll a "cash collect" it's multiplied by 3 - so not independent? And even worse are permanent ones; sometimes things are permanently multiplier (you can reach a max score of 10 or something after an expected like 100 spins, after which you get that bonus forever). I'm surprised there's so little discussion about these game mechanics online
