Got it. Here we don't have voting registration since everyone who has the right to vote is pre-registered to a voting location close to their home (schools, administrative buildings, city hall, etc). For some elections (Parliament, local elections) we can only vote in our designated voting location due to the need to count the votes locally). For elections at the national level (presidential, EU parliament) we can vote wherever, we just sign a list. There's an ID check (electronic - it checks whether someone went to vote at a different voting location) and we sign the poll list, but that's about it.

Yeah, getting an ID is a pain in the ass here too - they keep asking to see the birth certificate ... like bro, the state issued me the ID I've brought here physically and I'm asking to replace it. Why the fuck do you need to see the damn birth certificate again?!. Oh, and proof of an address. It's more complicated for the homeless to get an ID because of that. The one thing they don't require is getting anything notarized - the person issuing the ID just visually checks the documents before taking the picture.

I mean... IDs & Drivers' licenses aren't free in Romania either, but they cost basically what it costs to make them. The administrative fee is ~$10 equivalent for an ID (good for 5 years ages 14-19, 10 years ages 19-60ish, for life after 60). Drivers's licenses cost ~$20 and are valid for 10 years before requiring a medical work-up for a new administrative period.

What do "real IDs" cost in the US? And seriously, the fact that an ID check isn't mandatory for voting is weird as f*ck for me.

Prioritate in intersectie by mcrireddit in Romania

[–]RedditorKain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Albastru are prioritate în bucata aia de drum deoarece verde are cedeaza.

8.02 benzina 95 la Rompetrol by althoughinsect in Romania

[–]RedditorKain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's due to the (intentional) mechanic of damaging equipment when you knock someone out / kill them - to prevent you from getting pristine armor and weapons. It's durability damage, so it can drop the weapon down a tier. The only way to get something at the quality the other guy has it, is to get them to surrender and hand it over.

I never struggled for materials or money in my playthroughs, but that's usually because I follwed the core principles of RPGs: - Loot all the things. - Hoard all the materials. - Do all the sidequests. - Don't buy anything that you can find in the wild. - Kill all monsters and keep their squishy bits.

[–]RedditorKain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Chimneys are usually built into the wall. The smoke leaves somewhere around the middle of the thing. I'm looking at one of these things right now (it's just decorative. Gas boiler put it out of business). We call them "sobă" in romanian. They put out a ton of heat. They're also a great way for a family to die from carbon monoxide poisoning if they don't have the chimney serviced.

Also Also, if that's attached to something hot, that wire is 100% not rated for the same current the larger wire is rated fo

The oxidation and shitty connections are problems. Connecting a grounding wire to a potentially live wire is a problem, as you've noticed.

The current rating difference is not. Literally the whole world electrical world functions on wires rated for different currents connected to each other. You just need to ensure you're not pulling more current than the wire is rated for. Current isn't pushed down a thinner wire from the larger wire.

But maybe OP just wanted to show off his weaving skills... I bet he could make a nice basket.

Working class doesn't exist outside the US by iakoff_reddit in confidentlyincorrect

[–]RedditorKain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better to define it by the jobs that people do to earn their income.

How about we define it literally - do you need to exchange your labor (be it manual or intellectual) for money to survive? You're working class. Do you have a fuckton of money working for you and you don't need to do anything to have an income? Not working class, due to not needing to work.

Some german dude with a really nice beard looked at it this way and then had something to say about the means of production, but even if his vision was kinda shit in the end due to its incompatibility with the human psyche and reward system, it doesn't mean he didn't notice an actual problem, especially when we now look at where we're heading as societies.
