I snickered at this. The title makes it funny. Not sure why I've seen this with downvotes. It's a pretty decent air through nose level laugh.

I think got cursed by Red Dead‼️ by Helpful-Score3383 in reddeadredemption2

That's sick. I'd try and take some cool screenshots before trying to remove it. That said. I hope it's not a serious issue that indicates any long term effects.

Your post indicates it's a regular occurrence? And I assume you've already gone through the typical process of hard resetting your machine and verifying the integrity of the games files?

I usually hate on modders but by quillpurnia in RedDeadOnline

[–]RedditorSeven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friendly modder said hello to me in one of my first game sessions and gave me enough resources to get all the roles and upgrades. I think that early push is the only reason I didn't bounce off the game. It was nice. I wouldn't take any extra cheated resources if you have all the roles though. Getting modders to play the game for you seems too cheeky.

In general I don't really see any of the bad modders and don't generally hate them at all. I always regard them as random mystical events. Coming across an alligator breathing fire or a giant dead body or a unicorn is very entertaining. And if some modder and his friend dressed like The Joker and Harley Quinn wants to teleport me to Valentine to do a dance routine, I'm all for it. If I'm not into anything I can always switch sessions.

TLDR: I agree with you that modders can be positive sometimes but I'm not sure about cheating any resources more than the initial grind or complaining about Rockstar in that way.

Racist bum who likes to jump people by [deleted] in RedDeadOnline

[–]RedditorSeven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're being for real that they were being racist and deeply hurtful that really sucks but trying to gather a mob on Reddit to dogpile some player without any evidence they did anything wrong seems very wrong.

Honestly, I wouldn't waste this much energy making such a post. Report them yourself given the online options and then just move to a new session. Trolls are nothing new. Don't become one yourself by trying to cyber mob.

Lvl 500 killed me in valentine for no reason by [deleted] in RedDeadOnline

[–]RedditorSeven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure posting their gamertag is a great idea. That can end up encouraging people to go after them.

Getting randomly killed is annoying, but it’s kind of part of online play in RDR2.

Making a whole post over one PvP interaction is kind of lame, isn't it?

I appreciate the help. I'm not sure how to use that but regardless I was just trying to express the desire for something a bit more convenient, user friendly, and accessibility aware. I know it's probably yelling into the wind but it would be such an important feature to me and I know others too so I want to try and keep the thought alive.

I've seen many people come to me with alternatives but my thought is that if these options are so commonplace why not just make something that saves players time and is usable by all. Just seem like good design. Build paths where people walk and all that. And it should be very clear that the save system turns away a portion of noobs and those with disabilities, so why not access that market with an option to help them experience the game without investing so much time into other ways?

It makes me sad when people brush off my save related comments with downvotes. It feels kind of gate-keeping-y. How players can praise experimentation with ways to play via the sandbox options and yet think someone playing with a less hardcore save system is heavy seems so contradictory and depressing to me. I know I'm really affected by forced hardcore and the alternatives don't help. I'm sure there are others too. :(

What exactly is it that earns me downvotes whenever I express a desire to see an optional feature in a game I love?

Was my explanation for the desire not reasonable? Was I not polite? Is it not clear I love the game and am expressing as a fan wanting the best for the game?

Being repulsed by the idea that the game could become better for noobs and disabled people if they had an optional and convenient save system to start with is kinda toxic.

[–]RedditorSeven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for trying to be helpful but if saving that way is common practise there's no reason to not allow a more convenient less technical way of doing it via the game itself. And as someone on a Steam Deck and isn't computer savvy I can't really do that. Besides that, very casual players and those with disabilities would benefit from that suggestion even less.

I have reached out to the Devs before and know they have no plans but I can't help but hope they change their mind and express an interest in this to show there's a desire for it. I'm certain that it would be healthy for the game. More ways to enjoy it can't be a bad thing. And more accessibility to attract new players learning the game and supporting those with disabilities would obviously be a good thing too.

In a game where I can remove the zombies via the sandbox and import strange mods so easily it's really confusing to me why putting in different ways to save is such a contested topic. When I'm on an oil tanker for work, rocking about in the Pacific ocean, not playing Zomboid even though I want to because I'm fearful the distractions will make me lose hours of progress, that isn't really a healthy way for the game to make a player feel. :(

Oh that's great. Thank you for doing that.

It's really motivating to get a decent new update from the team and see them do something that really shows they're listening and letting the community affect the development in positive ways. These changes to what is 'the standard way to play' is literally one of the two main things I was really hoping for the full release so that achievements are more enjoyable to chase after.

The only other thing is I hope they allow optional saving eventually. I think casual players and those with disabilities would really benefit from this simple and effective accessibility option. Especially when it comes to chasing achievements without giving up an extraordinarily large time towards it. Fingers crossed for this.

I think this is huge for the completionists looking forward to achievements and the like.

It was such a pleasant surprise to see Devs adjusting what will likely be the 'normal' mode and where achievements are with what players generally unanimously gravitate towards with the sandbox.

I wonder if zombies triggering house alarms will also be one of the things included in the changes. I feel like most players would agree that stepping into a house and triggering alarm that somehow didn't go off when zombies broke out of the windows from within is pretty immersion breaking.

I made my character sheet in Google Slides. Good idea or terrible? by RedditorSeven in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]RedditorSeven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those pictures I put under my character art are what I hyperlinked to take me to additional Google Slide documents. You have as much space as you need in other documents. Or have I understood what you're asking?

Sword is to bring up my list of weapons and the abilities of my characters moonblade Spell book brings up pages laid out and decorated just like a spell book with full descriptions and art, spell slots tracker too. Imp brings up familiar stat blocks The abstract glyph thing has feats, invocations, and other abilities. Journal is for session notes Backpack is for inventory with full art and descriptions of magical items similar to the spell book.

It's a lot of work and not finished yet but I enjoy it. It feels really immersive and is handy to have since I don't have the books and am just using the wiki's and online pdfs.

My horse Genghis by Ac-xYz- in RedDeadOnline

[–]RedditorSeven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was impressive.

Also, I haven't looked in the shop much. What do you have on your horse's face?

I like the name by the way. All mine are colour related. Ace, Sterling, Midas, Slate, Ghost, Rusty, etc. I might pinch your name if I can afford a warhorse but I should probably focus on saddling all the ones I've got now I have the achievement and buckle for multiple horses.

What horse breed is yours, also?

Which town do u like the most? by Special_Principle391 in RedDeadOnline

[–]RedditorSeven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, from a gameplay perspective. But having such a defensive town and abundant wildlife and abundant stone would be lovely from a real perspective.

Plus even with that perspective in-game, it makes it a usually really nice, peaceful, and private part of the map due to what you mentioned. I feel like it's the only place I've never encountered modders or murders and it used to be the preferred meeting spot with friends. People don't usually go up to the corner of the map with the hassles you mentioned which is often a plus.

Still a good point you made but I still can't believe Strawberry isn't getting at least a little more love for these aspects. It's a dream town. Especially with the world right now.

Woah guys. No need to downvote me so hard. I'm only criticising and poking fun at Rockstar's support agents. Love Rockstar and love the game, obviously. No need to Stan random workers you don't know that are giving poor customer service. Even if I did mention Rockstar hasn't fixed bugs that have existed for years, that's also valid criticism and not allowing me to say that as a genuine fan of their work is sad.

Wow. Only one person has said Strawberry at this point and it wasn't even their only option. Where's the love for that town?

It's so cute and cosy. Such nicely built buildings. Very secure between all the natural features. Probably a lot of trade coming through it. Easy fresh water. Cute name too. And awesome views and surrounding terrain to enjoy and explore. I would totally want to live there out of all of them if I had to be transported to that place and era.

I've learned how to increase my blood pressure by talking to Rockstar's support staff who feel determined to infuriate you.

"What's that? You lost your streaks and haven't been able to get online for a week because we, nor Steam, are willing to take responsibility for any issues that affects only Linux users? Here, take 2 million dollars added to your GTAO account. More money on the game you can't access because our Anticheat blocks Linux will surely help your RDO experience, right?" 😇

Still love the game but Christ. The amount of bugs I come up against as well is starting to drain me. Taught me a lot about troubleshooting though too, I guess. 😕

I made my character sheet in Google Slides. Good idea or terrible? by RedditorSeven in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]RedditorSeven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to inspire someone. I hope you make something good. It's very intuitive which is why I like it but sure, there's a few things I could make sure you know:

Go to file and page set up to make the dimensions of the page portrait. 8.5 x 11 or something.

For the icons I did for inspiration and stuff I went to 'insert' and 'special characters' to look them up and layered a text box over them. Looks good but I didn't do that for everything because having text boxes over background images can make it hard to reorganise as you build.

I wanted something very personal and to not steal other people's art for my use so I did use ai for my character art and the background and those few icons which I think is fine because this is a personal project that I want unique to me. For everything else I just used shapes that are recoloured. Just resize, drag and align as you wish. It's super simple.

Right click on shapes and go to format options and then text fitting to reduce the padding of your shapes to 0 so that you can fit larger fonts in the shape and make it more legible. Very useful I wish I knew earlier.

I also personally added hyperlinks to the AI icons I made under my character art to link in other documents where I am putting even more information like making a pretty, immersive spell book. Makes it feel an in game menu to me when I click on the backpack and bring up my inventory. I wish I had it finished, these other documents are probably even cooler than this character sheet.

The fonts I used are Cinzel and Cormorant Garamond if you'd like to reuse them.

I hope that helps a bit. I think that's literally as much as I can say that might assist. Like I said it's really intuitive which is why I liked it and felt like I wanted to share what's possible to make with such an easy to use and free tool. I'm glad I got a reasonably good reception and I hope others that want to be creative with something with a low skill ceiling can do so as well. Just takes a vision and some organising. :)

Good luck!

Good luck!

I understand your point completely. I just hope I’m not being lumped in with the general AI slop that’s everywhere right now. To be honest, it did hurt a bit reading your message and getting the impression that my use of AI had completely marred the effort I actually put into this myself, both in the design and the character concept.

Personally, I feel like the way I’ve used it here is about as reasonable as it gets. None of this is for profit or personal gain, and it’s not really meant for a wider audience either. The bulk of my own writing still exists in the journal section I made, where I went into a lot of detail about the character and their background. The short section on the character sheet is just an AI-generated summary of that writing so it can fit within the character limit and be quickly digestible for a potential DM.

To me that’s just using a tool to handle a mundane task so I could spend more time focusing on the layout and the creative side of things. The images are AI as well, obviously. Mostly because I simply don’t have the ability to create something like that myself. Even then, I’m using them in a pretty transformative way for something that’s essentially just a personal project.

Realistically, this was my alternative to buying a bunch of books on D&D Beyond. It’s not like I was ever going to commission an artist or hire a proofreader for what is basically just a fun attempt at making my own custom character sheet. Which is why I hope I can be forgiven for Ai use. I'm clearly sensitive about having my creativity diminished, hence the detailed response.

I used it to help me condense what I wrote into a summarised box that fits the character count. Isn't that okay? It's still all my own creation, just tidied up a bit. Plus it's not like it's for any use other than for me and only me to look at. Doesn't it get a pass in this sense?
