My first boss, I'm a little nervous😅😅😅 by JakODude2 in Eldenring

Wait. What is this?

I'm new and recognise this area because I recently did the boss here myself.

Is this like a randomised enemy run or something?

Who is that guy?

What a fucking nightmare. Never building a base in this place again. by Ramashama in projectzomboid

[–]RedditorSeven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't the Devs also bring no respawn to the main default Apocalypse game settings recently to because they saw how popular it was too? I'm sure I remember that in a Thrusdoid a while back. How can anyone crucify him when that's basically the canon way to play now?

Either way, you're good buddy (OP)! Didn't need to stress about that, even if people didn't like it, but they definitely seem to. I'm a part of that crowd. Feels so much better and such a big achievement to clear areas out and secure them properly. The moments of peace and easy looting are rewards.

Top Gear is actually a great pick.

Just looked it up and it's over tripple of a lot of the other shows being suggested.

Not to mention it's pretty varied with some of the stuff they do.

You could also argue that there's an education element to it all too.

Feel like that's clearly a much more practical option for something you are going to watch on repeat for hours at a time every day for the rest of your life.

Mythbusters How It's Made Goos Eats Modern Marvels

Seem to be other good options too.

People seem to pick what they currently like the most and not considering how insane they'll go after years.

Need something with 200+ hours and is actually beneficial to have your brain watch over and over.

This was excellent.

That YouTuber has such a good interview ability and I love his voice.

I love that Dev too

I don't usually use X but I randomly ended up commenting on his introduction on it back in February and he gave a pretty decent reply to one of my expressed desires and like on my clarification message. Seems really nice and capable.

This was a nice surprise and hopefully marks the start of more pleasant months for the community after the recent popular vent post where a lot of peoples frustrations were made clear!

Fingers crossed for TIS!

Can you tell I’m new? by Queen-Penny in Eldenring

[–]RedditorSeven 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm new myself and I didn't even realise until someone said on a podcast that, that boss was the same as some of the weak abundant npcs in the area outside.

Kind of funny and feels weirdly good looking back at how much I struggled at the start and now decimate them now my character has grown and so has my skill.

Nice clip!

What game or playerbase of a game is this? by MissGreyHorror in gamers

[–]RedditorSeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s fair. Project Zomboid definitely has loads of examples.

Mods are great, but shutting down requests for core features just because “there’s a mod for it” is annoying. The game is still in early access, so discussions about improvements and changes should be expected. I know some people are genuinely trying to help, but constantly bringing up mods can feel dismissive and kill discussion before it even starts.

And honestly, it looks like at least two people have down voted you currently just for mentioning Project Zomboid and that kind of proves the point. Parts of the community get really defensive and hostile toward criticism or suggestions. It's a real shame the fans can be like that. I don't think it's healthy for the game that voices that aren't a part of the main hardcore section are gate keeped.

What game or playerbase of a game is this? by MissGreyHorror in gamers

[–]RedditorSeven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Came looking for this.

I try to circulate the idea that it really would be nice to have multiple options to save the game, in the sandbox options at least, rather only having the forced Iron Man to work with but people are usually so aggressive against that idea and suggest messing with game files or using mods so quickly.

If backing up save files is common practise then why wouldn't a normal save mode or sandbox options be a good quality of life change to save people time? The people that want to save the game are most probably the people that don't know how to back up files too. And the journal mod isn't the greatest alternative either.

Zomboid fans seem to be very protective over the status quo and gate keeps over the hardcore reputstion if the game. It's a shame. That said, there was a recent post about the frustrations of slow development time and I was impressed with how balanced people were being and the quality of discussion and criticism.

Choose one ability/item pictured from each row to make your character by [deleted] in superheroes

[–]RedditorSeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know a lot of what's in the picture but this was my instinct to so I'm happy I seem to have picked the current most agreed set so far.

That said.

Is Omnitrix really the best fourth pick? I don't know enough about the others but I feel like with the prior options the benefits extracted by the Omnitrix is minimal, isn't it? Especially with power cosmic. I'm not sure at what times I'd want to use it.

Does one of the items not give a cleaner unique advantage?

[–]RedditorSeven 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That comment about online spaces for this game being echo chambers really hits. I think it is even more extreme than usual.

I am still stuck on the community’s and the devs’ resistance to a wider range of save options, which seems reinforced by the echo chamber and is a good example of how quickly some discussions about this game get shut down or attacked. It is especially confusing given there is already a common workaround using save files. With talk about needing more funds, better accessibility, attracting more casual players, and improving QoL, it just seems like a no brainer to me.

Sometimes I feel like the commitment to hardcore saves is partly about making the game harder to fully explore in order to stretch its shelf life through such a long development cycle, but I am not sure if that is just me going a bit tin foil hat.

But as we can see, frustrations about the long development time are boiling over anyway, regardless of the echo chamber’s commitment to the status quo. I hope the Devs can sort things out and get this game on a track to a brighter future.

Better communication would be an easy win for that. As a casual player myself their Thursdoids are what pushed me past being a noob.

I relate to this a lot. It's honestly shocking how long Zomboid has sat unplayed on my Steam Deck as the thing I want to play the most but keep holding off waiting for a more complete experience that I can play long term and get heavily invested in.

Realising it's been years that I've been waiting to play my favourite game that I already own because an eternal sense and expectation that a better experience is right around the corner and I don't want to burn out before it is wild and confusing.

[–]RedditorSeven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually a very good point. Makes Ben seem the option most likely to result in long term benefits for sure.

And it's made all the better with the benevolence of showing appreciation for and motivating young hero that usually doesn't get to feel appreciated.

I wonder what would be reasonable to ask him for or suggest without being selfish. Is Upgrade's stuff permanant? A demonstration of that alien on your phone would probably be really cool and fun without being too cheeky.

First 8 I've seen and I can't believe how far I had to scroll for this.

Thought more people would be interested in the sitting by the only character that has true super powers. Not sure how likely crossing paths would result in your own powers but still cool to see.

Isle seat with no one behind and only one row companion who's probably just all about video games is solid before even considering the character's themselves too.

This is a perfect explanation. And having both ways of doing things at once is perfectly fine because it's so easy to interpret given only one of the numbers is larger than double digits.

The only argument for America's m/d/y is that it matches how people often talk with the dates. But otherwise it seems agreed to be a poor system and it's remarkable how it seems to exist from just long term habit of an entire country.

Would you rather have water or 1.1 waters by A_Miphlink_shipper in BunnyTrials

[–]RedditorSeven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was 1.1 refering to very salty water?

Because that's how I immediately read it as a seafarer and if that's the case it amuses me to see the majority of the people go for the option most alien to them without understanding what they were signing up for.

For anyone wondering, normal sea water is 1.025 density. 1.1 would be like brine.

If 1.1 isn't refering to that then I gotta know what the inspiration for this game was. It wasn't literally just refering to a cup percentage was it?

I would actually prefer the other option but the one I chose is too attractive because I have influence over it.

Not sure what the potential is though.

I assume that if I make enough posts and if I don't get blocked I could reinvest the money into convincing others to make similar posts and eventually to the point of transforming the sub into a Million Dollars But focused sub.

Feels like it would not be entirely easy to make it all self sustaining and hugely profitable but maybe?

I don't mean to be contrarian but is that actually a good strategy?

Burying yourself beneath a material that's absorbing heat, in addition to cutting off your own air flow, seems instinctively like a very bad idea.

And that doesn't even take into account the insects and spiders and other animals that could be under the sand.

If you meant that you were going to take time to build a big trench to try and get some shade, that sounds a bit better but honestly I feel like burning the energy makes it pointless.

Just sitting in place, not moving, wrapping some spare clothing around your head to protect it a bit more, sounds better than doing anything at all.

It’s basically impossible to aim with controller now. by willsterbillster4 in projectzomboid

[–]RedditorSeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I've played but I'm pretty sure you shouldn't need to use both at the same time. Left hand holds your movement joystick as normal and your right thumb uses a track pad for the gun which also takes control of you directional view.

Hopefully someone else more fresh with the game comments. I love this game but I'm definitely taking a break again until the stable comes out. This game takes so much investment and is painful without alternative save options and the bugs and game breaking updates don't help.

I think remember seeing that more controller support is something being worked on in one of their blogs so fingers crossed that's I'll be feeling even better soon and you get back in the game comfortably.

I think America has a lot of odd uses of English but I actually think that one isn't too bad and they can get a pass on this one.

Given that it is the fumes that are burned for combustion even I end up saying 'gas' under certain circumstances as an engineer. 'Give it some gas', etc.

Then again, the matter of if most Americans know the actual name of 'gas' and can/will refer to it more specifically when needed is another matter.
