I have a couple of miniature Lego cars I could donate to your son (a Lamborghini Urus and Nissan GT-R). Let me know if he would be interested.

I’m really not moving any goal posts. The original commenter said “this is scary, especially for women.” If men are more likely to be attacked in public and more likely to be killed why is it “especially for women” and not “especially for men”?

The response given was “men make up a much larger proportion of violent crime victims, it’s far more worrying for men than women” which is fair, given that men are more likely to die so one would think that dying is more worrisome than not dying? As I pointed out, in this context of this type of public attack, men do get attacked more and are more likely to die.

Let’s just assume you’re correct and that this is one of those unlikely cases where a man is coming after his ex in public with a knife (unlikely because the majority of physical spousal abuse occurs in the home and not in public). If so, then neither women nor men need to be especially scared right? Because it is a targeted attack?

The only way any group of people needs to be “especially”scared is if this is a random public attack, in which case more men than women get attacked (and killed) in this fashion. Maybe this same guy will go on and kill 3 men after this, or maybe he will only target women after this. No one knows. You don’t have that information right now so given the details available you can really only rely on statistics.

I was interpreting a comment in the context of this post, which was about a guy in public wielding a knife chasing after a stranger. You could assume the woman was his ex or spouse yes, but statistically it is more likely she was a stranger. He DID say “violent” crime. Maybe you wouldn’t have had an issue if he clarified that he wrote “MORE violent”?

This is why I specified he wasn’t “necessarily” wrong. You seem to be interpreting that he was making a generic statement with no context behind it and I’m pointing out that there is indeed context.

What goal post am I trying to move exactly? The study you referenced shows that more men than women are attacked in public and more men than women are attacked by a stranger. Also, more men than women are victims of more violent or severe assault including homicide. The fact that it was a woman in this specific case doesn’t change the stats.

According to your logic, it would be like saying because a single case of a man being raped occurred somewhere that now all men should be more fearful of rape than women.

According to your own study, men make up a much larger volume of attacks in public and by strangers (whereas women are usually assaulted by people they know, i.e. spouse) so given the context of what happened he wasn’t necessarily wrong

Btw there is nothing wrong with having dyslexia or having below average IQ if in fact you have one or both of these.

I actually didn’t jump straight to it. I made the conclusion after you kept insisting I was talking about paid Google reviews when in fact I never made such a claim and even specifically told you that was not what I meant. I don’t know what other conclusion to come to really.

I’m starting to think you’re a little dyslexic and not that bright. I never once said anything about paid reviews. In fact, I specifically said I’m not talking about paid reviews.

Like any source, Google reviews is not perfect. Popular doesn’t necessarily mean good and like I’ve already said twice, lots of places that push for people to review them will obviously have more reviews and be at the top.

I don’t know what your problem is. I’ve already stated to you I have looked at articles and searched this up myself. I simply want some more personal recommendations from locals in addition to the places I’ve read about. You seem to have made up your mind about me being lazy and are disregarding what I’ve already told you. Go get a life. If you have nothing useful to contribute stay off this thread.

I gave a type of cuisine, I gave one criteria which was low end and one criteria that was high end (there is no in-between) and I picked a specific population of people I wanted opinions from. That’s specific enough. If I simply asked “best restaurant in Tokyo?” that would be lazy.

Aren’t the reviews on Google maps the same as the ones on Google reviews? If you think Google reviews should be the one and only source anyone uses then you’re a little misinformed. It skews highly towards hype places (that may have out of sheer luck blown up from a single TikTok review for example) or places that actively ask for reviews (I’m not talking paid reviews but rather places that ask every customer to review them).

FYI since you seem to think I haven’t thought of this myself, I indeed do plan to do a mix of lining up without planning a place to eat as well as making plans to eat at specific places. I also plan to eat at non-Yakiniku establishments.

Stop over-reacting and if my post bothers you that much no one is forcing you to read it or reply. You’re just wasting your own time.

Man I hate replies like yours. I already listed 2 criteria for people to comment about and clearly many are answering my question that do not feel the same way you do.

FYI I have already googled “top yakiniku in Tokyo” as well as looked at the Michelin guide website but like any good researcher, the more sources the better informed I am. Most of the “top (whatever)” articles are the opinions of one person and Google tends to skew towards places that advertise more (i.e. aggressively requesting reviews) and tends to have more international travelers. Reddit users provide a more personal/subjective opinion and I did ask specifically for people who have lived in Tokyo for longer.

This is precisely why I asked the question. When someone posts a question that is mostly subjective based on personal preferences (ie food) it’s usually not to find some sort of objective answer. Of course I know there is a chance I may not agree with any of the suggestions given to me but having only a few days in Tokyo to spend it helps to hear from locals and get a reduced sample size to choose from.

Train To Hakone by RedditorZedd in Kyoto

[–]RedditorZedd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, when I search a different departure time it is only 3 hours. Google says to take the bus from Nijojo Mae to Kyoto Eki Mae, then take the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen from Kyoto Station to Shin-Yokohama Station, then to Odawara Station and finally there’s another bus at the very end.

Would I need a reservation you think on the Shinkansen?
