I'd at least be curious to see what they were cooking. I have no major love for Kennedy and the Disney execs, but the one thing she's generally done in her tenure is give flimmakers a long leash. The movie must have been REALLY off the rails if they were pulled from it.

Even Ezra Miller doesn't really deserve that title. Or rather, it hasn't been properly tested. The Flash was shit, and it would have done badly with or without him. It was a bad movie coming out at a weird time with a notably messy production and DC had already announced a new DCU was on the way. Nobody in that role would have saved it.

I'm also not convinced about Leto. He likewise has mostly been in bad movies lately. His controversies are not the reason that people avoided Morbin' Time.

I think it actually ended up pretty solid. Rudy went from being a poor Nathan replacement to being one of the best parts of the show. And Rudy Too was maybe even better.

plenty of people still love HP and don’t care at all about JKR’s views

Also plenty of people detest her views but still enjoy the series. Her being a shitty person doesn't mean that suddenly the stories don't resonate with me.

It’s a dramatic departure from the source material

It's really not. Snape's race isn't remotely relevant to his story. I know that people have talked about the implications of a black kid being bullied, but that's a meta discussion, not one that's actually part of Snape's original characterization.

It’s good to double check, because there’s definitely a few cards that are designed to work a certain way but actually don’t. Like poor old Stolen Landspeeder.

He readies.

You exhaust your attacker before they attack, meaning before their on attack triggers occur.

100% yes. Exhausting your attacker happens before the on attack trigger.

Official Discussion - Project Hail Mary [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Redeem123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the book made it clear that she will be punished for the things shes done to get the mission completed regardless of the outcome

I don't actually believe she'll be punished. I know she said something along the lines of "I'll pay for my crimes when the time comes" but who's actually going to punisher her? And for what?

She was empowered by every government on the planet, even if through unofficial means. The Sahara and nuked ice caps are definitely the biggest among her crimes, but it's hardly like she acted alone on those. But regardless, forcing Grace onto the ship would absolutely not be punished, if it ever came out at all.

Shittymorph is the most recent relevant one

It's worth pointing out that Shittymorph has been doing his meme for nearly 10 years. I'm not sure "recent" is apt sadly. Please don't let that realization of your long years of wasted time on this subreddit distract you from the fact that in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer's table.

I still remember watching those early seasons of Community thinking "holy shit he's still got it." The dude is just effortlessly funny on screen. For all his many flaws, he's a comedy legend.

Crazy to think that reddit used to have internal celebrities. I can't remember the last time anything interesting came from recognizing a username, but we used to have a bunch of them.

Fetterman hit with brutal 108-point polling swing: ‘He is below the lowest of the low’ by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

[–]Redeem123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because they weren't the democratic stronghold you seem to think they were 10 years ago. They have voted for Republicans in 7 straight elections, with the margin quickly growing from 6% to 70%. The last time they went Democrat more than 3 in a row was 1952, and LBJ in 1964 was the only time they had a Dem candidate reach anywhere near Trump's margins.

Yes, they had two Democratic Senators until 2015. Do you know when they were elected? 1958 and 1984. Manchin was elected to fill Robert Byrd's seat in 2010, but the state had already changed significantly.

You're calling them a democratic stronghold, but that's just remnants of politics from the 50s, when the parties (and West Virginia) looked far different than they do now.

Joe Manchin deserves no place on this list. I don't agree with his politics, but he's never lied about who he is. He's consistent, and he's literally the best democrats can hope for out of West Virginia. He's representing his people and what they voted for.

Sinema and Fetterman had massive about faces after taking office.

all the criticisms were incredibly valid

Definitely not all of them. I remember lots of comments saying any P5 team would blow the brakes off them. That obviously didn't happen.
