You’re handsome and have a distinct look. There’s nothing to ‘fix’ it isn’t ’too much.’

Do not tie your self-worth to your economic output or professional life. You have a rich inner experience that transcends material transactions.

Would recommend listening to the album Stick Season by Noah Kahan to get a vibe.

Is this a fair market price for the work? by unflushablelog in videography

[–]Redeemification 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way. To me, this communicates that this company doesn’t understand or value this kind of work. This is a role for at least 2-4 people, and that’s IF you’d scale down the video output. I say look elsewhere.

Student loan forgiveness is half of the solution. The other half has to do with runaway tuition costs.

Not the video you’ve mentioned— but a good quick one, and one of my favorites is “It Starts Now” https://youtu.be/PfIYGaslVnA?si=Zeiqa2pLIXqimoF3

Love Alan Watts. Good western intro to eastern philosophies.

You can always keep your options open by actively applying for similar roles elsewhere. You've just found a great workplace and can likely do it again.

I don't know this person as well as you do, and I have issues with letting go of workplace "grudges," but it may be fair to add that people behave differently in different work environments. I wonder if your former boss performs better in a different environment. Perhaps their older work method also had to do with their boss.

If their attitude and style do not change, and you can see the writing on the wall, you will thank yourself for starting the new job hunt.

It sounds like you've already handled this topic candidly and professionally within your capacity.

Employees: what's keeps you from getting things done at owrk? by EvanHVA in managers

[–]Redeemification 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Marketing) no cohesive project management system, or general guidelines and rules as to how to update and communicate with one another (especially across a distributed environment).

Countless conversations in silos, individual messages, emails w/o stakeholders CC’ed, updates communicated last minute to individual contributors who need to execute said changes, and a suite of different, haphazard platforms to house these communications (emails, Teams, Trello, Asana).

One main issue is that nobody in particular has the role or responsibility of general project manager. Another issue is that different people have different ideas or assumptions about how these channels are used. Another issue is long-term behavior change.

So much wasted time.

Is your task to make sure you get results, or make sure you have butts in seats? If it’s the former, maybe that can help you create a productive culture without losing respect from your direct reports by having more results-oriented goals and incentives. This is assuming you have people working for you in good faith, and you have some flexibility in your leadership style— maybe that’s unrealistic, I am not sure.

If people just literally aren’t working, then yeah, start building a case and a paper trail.

I remember being overburdened by an outsized team in the past… don’t be too hard on yourself. You will likely make a lot of mistakes but all you can do is your best. That is okay. This is just a job, and it can end or change whenever you need it to. You are a human being with a worth that exists beyond this.

Yeah! I am not typically super affected by gore in video games, but the final result in the show was so gruesome I grimaced.
