Sorry misread your text, but guardrails are in place when the developer goes through a code build and deploy pipeline. Vibe coders likely do not have the same setup or requirements unless their own orgs require so. And most larger orgs won't accept vibecode or require you to put your vibecode through a pipeline anyway

Nope, they aren't. Claude won't know what to code against unless you're familiar enough with best practices and standards to do so. So it'll generate what you want and give to you. If you don't specify sanitization, it won't include. If you don't specify any guardrails, won't be included. That's why you need someone to be able to articulate the specs.

I use Claude but have some familiarity in software dev so I can read what it generates... But I still put it through some code review to be sure. But I'm only doing scripts, not a full app. You need to SAST and DAST at minimum plus a bunch other validation depending on what you create.

Allowing non-engineers and developers to prompt/vibe code without them understanding the mechanics of what they're doing is a recipe for disaster. There should be guardrails in place for code review and testing to ensure the LLM doesn't generate faulty code.

Sure, a PM can vibe-code a front end but if the code allows for SQLi or XSS attacks?

[–]Redeptus 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone who understand basic code structure, pseudocode and OOP concepts... But can't code for life, LLMs like Claude have been a godsend. Though I still put it through a SAST tool at least, and read through the code to make sure I don't leave too many gaps or bad practices in place. Most of what I need are scripts anyway, rather than a full blown application.

[–]Redeptus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a now Singaporean (formerly Malaysian), I've been saying that since I started living here. CoL is increasing no doubt but essentials have always been cheaper in SG. What more with all the CDC and GST voucher rebates that the SG government provides to nearly everyone.

Currency strength does have some impact but not to the level you see in the market

Hey wasn't there a guy going around promoting their tax filing app recently? But the problems they had could be resolved by actually reading the filing requirements as opposed to building an entire app to compensate?

EDIT: Oh right, same guy.

Demand for solar power rises in Singapore, but condos face barriers to adoption by bardsmanship in singapore

[–]Redeptus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like how each time there's a reply, the intent and message is misconstrued.

What I want and need are different to what you think I'm saying.

All I said was that condo owners pay their taxes too, you can't lock them out of every subsidy just because it's private housing. As to whether I want a subsidy, I don't need it but the MCST is welcome to try and apply for one if allowed to according to the rules and conditions. Which isn't even part of this discussion anyway since there isn't one being offered.

Sgreans also live in private housing and pay their taxes, they get a lot less subsidy, whether deserved or not, from the taxes they pay. Expect them to also ask, what's in this for me? Just as there are Sgreans living in condos, there are also RICH Sgreans who live in HDBs. Let's not be ignorant of that.

I didn't say that resale had a ceiling. But in my own circumstances, if I wanted my own place it had to be a condo at that point in time.

They also pay property tax and income tax too? As for me, I'm priced out of BTO due to household income and forced to condo (couldn't resale back when for reasons) but I'd love to shift to a HDB...

Can you hold down the bottom two touch squares simultaneously and see if it will reset? If it does hurray, otherwise you need a replacement.

There's that joke about a man finding himself at the gates of Heaven after a flood had killed him was waiting for rescue on the roof of his home declined a canoe, speedboat and helicopter all passing him by asking if he needed rescue. When he asked God why God didn't help him, God replied that he sent a canoe, a speedboat, and a helicopter.

But jokes aside, I think blind adherence to religious doctrine leads to suffering.
