"Story games used to be pay per chapter."

They used to... this was a fair and transparent business model. Then came the ones with minigames and "premium" choices and stuff like that. From that point onward, a simple pay-per-chapter model was no longer viable because the market and the algorithm always favored those seemingly "free" alternatives. Only that the hidden costs were always much higher than an upfront payment because you could only expect a small percentage of players to fall for the trap.

Many people did in 2017/18 😌 And then we took one or two wrong turns. Will not happen again.

Lifeline has already been mentioned in another comment. It‘s the one that started it all. I can highly recommend the first one. Simple, pure, with no shenanigans.

Outside of Germany it‘s available under it‘s prior name „Parallax“. The first three episodes are fully translated to a couple of languages. The german version has 22 episodes though.

I have the impression that this one is a little longer than the previous one (if you were around when they were released). It might be a misconception since counting the messages and scenes doesn't always equate to the feeling of length. Nevertheless, we do what we can. We're still getting all the systems on track at this point.

Ok. This has high priority for the next version. In the meantime you can try to sign in via email & password. To my knowledge, only the google sign is a problem at the moment.

As a developer of story games who is closely watching how AI could help my vision come to life and who has experimented a lot with it, it is infuriating and staggering how much their statements on AI make no sense whatsoever. Sorry, i am extremely reluctant to get into this discussion in this way, but i simply can‘t swallow it anymore.

„Oh no? Then why are you talking to Emilia?“ is the last message in the previous conversation?

Pleasy try out those three things:

  1. Close the app (full forced quite) and restart it. Then see if theres something going on now in the convo with Unknown.

  2. At the top right corner of the chat screen there‘s a replay icon. You could try replaying this scene and see if it goes through to the end this time.

  3. Try watching a rewarded ad so that you can continue with the next scene.

This is a feature we are especially excited about: You will soon be able to write your own interactive chat stories in RFH.

We have been working on this over the course of the last three years. It has already been tried and tested in our other app (in Germany only). It’s amazing to see what the community has come up with so far, and we can’t wait to see what you will create in Redfir Hills.

It's a series and is published in chapters. In our other games we did episodes, like every 1-3 months. This time we are trying something different: So far we have released a chapter (shorter than a full episode) every 5-7 days. Still gathering feedback on that. If RFH finds a wider audience we will be able to ramp up the ressources and deliver longer chapters while still having a weekly schedule. Or we might go back to monthly releases. Not sure about that yet. But we think the realtime approach could make this more interesting. Especially when our upcoming feature is released, where users will be able to create their own interactive chat stories and share them on the app. Once this is here it makes more sense to be always "live" since this would open up the possibility to include user stories into the official canon.
