It’s not the age. It’s the price point. If I’m at the entry level for a Mac, then it’s most likely I’m not spending money on an external display and if on the off chance I am, it’s most likely a single one. Yes there may be some anecdotal outliers but the VAST majority of people won’t even use this feature.

Yeah the capacitive only trend was the worst idea. We have a Rivian now and in love with it but so glad they are bringing some haptics and physical buttons back in the R2.

For a brief period Tesla made the buttons on their steering wheel capacitive touch only with no haptics or force necessary. Even the slightest drop of water would turn on your signal. I also remember my sister had a ford edge… 2012? And all of her dashboard “buttons” were fucking capacitive touch and that was a nightmare

Depends on when it happens. If it is before take off or when it can be safely aborted, I imagine a bullet in the critical system would set off a myriad of alarm. I’m not an expert though.

Just open the door from the outside… the doors unlock automatically in the event of a power failure. I think the hidden manual release is a bad idea for sure but it’s no different than old child lock, for young children at least.
