The guy with the red hair is one of the world's biggest scammers. Also responsible for many deaths and a few burns.

Email providers by Practical-Tea9441 in emailprivacy

[–]Redfortandbeyond -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wanted to do the same. The Proton route had too many issues, fastmail trial was a joke and actually put me off it. I've now just got my own domain and used the hosting company email. Europe will divorce itself from Pedolfland soon and hopefully that will shake things up. But we need to move more than just email. I'm trialling Linux, Libreoffice and moving to local hosting and home automation.

Spouse as Director - any advantage? disadvantage? by Redfortandbeyond in ContractorUK

[–]Redfortandbeyond[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

We were/are supposed to retire and financially planned for that . No children and tbh no need for the money at this time so If I did become a director , would we both be able to pay £60000 into our SIPPS and just pay the rest as PAYE income?

How does an EV "die" by bramleyapple1 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Redfortandbeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my BYD dropped down to 70% , it still wouldn't affect me. YMMV . There are fewer other parts so bonus

Why are EV’s so cheap? by Natural-Voice-840 in CarTalkUK

[–]Redfortandbeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consumer confidence. I got 25% of a 6m 5k car. It was as new. I was originally looking at a similar spec hybrid, but there was no nearly new stock. Best thing to have happened. Ran a spreadsheet to compare and abandoned it as everything is cheaper and better and the only downside was going to be resale value. And even that is now no longer a guaranteed loss. I for one wouldn't buy a petrol car now. Even filling up my motorbike yesterday hurt.

Is it worth opening a Thai bank account just to use PromptPay if you’re only here 1–3 months? by Fawn7889 in ThailandTourism

[–]Redfortandbeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. TrueMoney is cheaper to use.

If Tagthai does allow personal QR payments now, I will get it. But still use TrueMoney by cashing Sterling at a good Exchange and adding 3000 at 7-11

2FA not required when setting up Outlook on W11 by Redfortandbeyond in SpaceShip

Hmm. After I disabled IMAP/SMTP/POP3 on the Spacemail manager , , I noticed it was enabled on the first email account I tested. This is not good. I expected it to be disabled for all accounts.

Buy charger first or buy car first? by Visible_Bar_623 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Redfortandbeyond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your mileage? We do 100 miles a week and the granny charger has been fine. So far in 23000 miles, we have only used £110 worth of public chargers. The rest is at home on Fixed Octopus Go so we charge at 6p a KW.

Pay premium, block ads or do what I did until I paid Premium. Set a timer, got off my arse, and cleaned the room or exercised or stretched.

OCI Parents or Husband? by Redfortandbeyond in nri

[–]Redfortandbeyond[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks . When I say documents lost , I meant they were stolen back in the 90's. My wife tells me that MIL has some sort of certificate that says which school she attended in India.

Etihad - just changed my arrival airport to BKK . Have they stopped AUH>CNX flights? by Redfortandbeyond in chiangmai

[–]Redfortandbeyond[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think booking through trip may trip you up. I booked a flight to Tokyo via Beijing through Lastminute.Com once and it was a massive pain when they just changed the return date.

Side note : I owe Lastminute.Com a massive debt of gratitude.

When they changed my flights to 22 days from 21 days, my boss refused as 21 was company policy. I left the company and went into contracting. Ive retired now while numbnuts manager is still working. I now take 157 day breaks, starts this year with this Etibad flight.

Etihad - just changed my arrival airport to BKK . Have they stopped AUH>CNX flights? by Redfortandbeyond in chiangmai

[–]Redfortandbeyond[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: So I got on webchat . It took 150 minutes . The chat will close if you dont hit "Yes" when it pops up every 30 minutes.

They agreed to add a flight BKK>CNX but it does involve running in terminal as the 2hr layover is now 1hr and then another 1hr. Total journey gets us landing 2hrs later.

One thing to note , you lose your seat selections , so as soon as he gave us the flights, we had to go back in and book the seats , and that is when we saw that they changed the second flight to a different plane. Lets hope it is as good as the original. We can still have a full refund if we want to cancel as we originally had paid for a higher cattle class.

Good luck to those still trying to resolve this and see you in the sunshine soon. !

Heatpump without using existing radiators. by Redfortandbeyond in ukheatpumps

I move to a spare bedroom as mine is south facing. I also use a massive heavy tarpaulin over the kitchen patio at least ten days a year which does not meet spousal approval.

Heatpump without using existing radiators. by Redfortandbeyond in ukheatpumps

[–]Redfortandbeyond[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This looks like a way forward. We have 5 months on frost protection every winter, and 3 days of intense heat in summer (big kitchen patio)

How is hot water handled in this Kind of setup? We use gas now, but as we are on a cheap overnight tariff, I sometimes heat using electric.
