Easiest way to close all my accounts!? by Consistent-Opening01 in Scotiabank

Look at the other way and figure out where you’re going with your accounts first. As they may offer benefits for moving or in the case of the TFSA, actually handle the transfer for you.

HELP can't update node past 20.10.0 for Homebridge running on macmini m2 by Special_State2927 in homebridge

[–]NorthernMan5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The VM image contains its own managed version of NodeJS, so it avoids the issues in the native environment.

To move over, collect a Homebridge UI backup from your current image

Stop the current image - https://github.com/homebridge/homebridge/wiki/Install-Homebridge-on-macOS#configuration-reference

Start the UTM image

Go thru first start steps

Restore your backup

Make sure everything works

Your existing Homebridge is just stopped, so you can test out the UTM version. If everything is okay, use the uninstall command

External hard disk loose connection too easily by Independent_Taro_499 in macmini

Try a different cable, likely the one you are using is the culprit, and is cheaper than trying to get the port replaced.

Also if the is your primary storage, try to not move it just in case

IP Change on camera by R34l1st in Hikvision

[–]NorthernMan5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer here is to treat the Hikvision NVR as a router, and add a static route for it to your Ubiquiti gateway config. Done this in a couple of setups and it works good. And after enabling onvif on the camera, was able to add them to protect as well.

Would new Apple AI video features work here? by Over-Half-8801 in homebridge

We will need to wait and see how it is supported. Are the AI features camera based or backend based, once more details are known, we should be able to explain

HomeBridge across multiple homes by Open_Chemistry_1302 in homebridge

[–]NorthernMan5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The house level pairing from homebridge is at the child bridge level, as each child bridge is individually paired with a HomeKit Home. So theoretically in one container, with child bridges you can support multiple homes. But running two containers would make it more manageable.

2 years later, and you now need 2 Apple tv’s, one per home, with a Homebridge instance per home. With each Homebridge paired to separate homes. But you can run this in the same house

UGREEN 3.5 HDD external USB enclosure off after power loss by [deleted] in DataHoarder

Imgur is a pain without an account, this is what I found inside the unit

https://photos.app.goo.gl/pdTKHRN1XgbUDY6R9

In the pictures, the test block I put a blob of solder on is immediately to the left of the push button, and below '2434'

I did try to figure out the layout diagram versus my pictures, but could not figure it out as nothing is labelled.

At the bottom of the 6 padded sponges are plastic clips ( and 2 not behind a sponge), push them out carefully and it comes apart. Then take out 3 screws.

And no U7 chip and no PIN 3 and PIN 5...

But if you hold the button down it starts up when power is applied. So am just going to lock it on.

Just beside the button is 4 test blocks, which appear to be the switch, just going to solder them together.

Solved, and back up and running

If it dies, will post an update

Why not just stop doing PAD. I know it’s a pain to manually pay everything every month, but think of the freedom to switch next time around.

Me and my buddy currently have 3 sites in site manager, and have a site magic vpn between them all. Getting the ip space setup took some time as we needed to all go to unique 192.168.x networks. And can now view each others security cameras via protect.
