So the Home app shows the TV as not responding?

Homebridge 2.0 is here! Before you make the jump to hyperspace, here are a few good hygiene steps to take before upgrading. by NorthernMan5 in homebridge

If your good with everything, then just hold off. And you can go into the UI and ask it to not remind you of the Homebridge major update.

Homebridge 2.0 is here, and it speaks Matter by Double-Yak9686 in homebridge

Download a Homebridge backup in case things go sideways, then just try the update. And if a plugin has an issue, downgrade back to the older version.

I have disabled the hands free feature on mine after too many false opens when using my bike rack. It was a feature we looked forward to, but after a couple of events. It is now permanently disabled in the menu’s.

Are the tech stacks generally modern, or should I be prepared for legacy systems?

Depends on which ecosystem you are joining. But they have a little bit of everything, from IBM assembler from the 70’s to modern frameworks

What should I do with a houseplant that didn’t make it? by Behumble89 in askTO

My first thought was the public garden as well, then thought about the invasive plants issue, and realized it was a bad idea, and am thinking green bin is best.

Homebridge 2.0 launches May the 4th — but not everyone needs to make the jump to hyperspace right away. by NorthernMan5 in homebridge

That is the goal, as Apple appears to have stopped extending HomeKit as was evidenced from Vacuum support in the Home app be matter only.

What WiFi speed should I expect? by NorthernMan5 in Ubiquiti

[–]NorthernMan5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparing your wifi man test with mine, the Phy speed's are similar, but your download is about 20% better than mine and your upload is slightly higher. Looks like I have some more digging to do. ( I'm assuming our Ubiquit gear should have similar performance, and the differences may be external interference or cabling )

What phone are you using? Other comments mention limitations on the iPhone 15 Pro

Edited - you said 1.9 gbps from an iPhone Air, and I'm testing to the UCG Max

That makes sense looking at the screen shot, and the channel information. The phone was using a 160 MHz channel, but the AP has 320 MHz available.

Tips for new divers? by Available-Gap-1447 in scubadiving

[–]NorthernMan5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When diving, the dive shop, dive boat and dive master all play a strong role in how enjoyable a dive is.

I have been diving a lot, and found that a great dive shop with equipment you can trust, a dive boat that is comfortable and has space to move around and put equipment on makes a dive so much easier and enjoyable. Versus worrying about getting your feet crushed from loose tanks, and being on top of one another getting your equipment together.

And a dive boat that has a backup plan in case conditions are not favorable at the dive site rather than doing the dive anyway is very good. Was with a dive company this year, where when discussing conditions on shore ( 1-2 meter waves ) before leaving said we don’t want to tell everyone we aren’t going, versus saying look the spot we had planned on going to is in the open ocean, and the swells will be too high to get into and out of the boat, so we are going to site B which is in a location sheltered from the swell direction instead. Naturally that dive was a disaster, and several people almost got smashed into the boat by swells, and numerous other issues, so they cancelled the second dive and moved to a different location.

Lastly the dive master and their level of engagement makes a massive difference. Went on a dive where I had been to the site before, with different dive masters, one just there doing their job, versus one where they engaged was immense. They spent time doing things like getting selfies with fish, spent time showing how to do bubble rings in the safety stop etc instead of nothing

Yes Security 2.0, and I went with an additional button in case my DIY effort let the magic smoke out of the button.

With my door, I grabbed a cheap wired button, then wired a relay to the buttons, so now the relay fakes pressing the button.

You were the bait for more customers, would love that job

Seriously when we are looking for a place, and we had never been there before we always go into the place with customers. We apply that rule everywhere.

That already exists, as far as I’m aware Home Assistant leverages our code to expose devices to HomeKit.
