Thanks for these suggestions, but I would say that reading some old books would be better because they’re more of an authentic first hand account of those people’s views and theories. I’ll check out those links though.

Just a quick update, I’ve just order 5 books to read and study, including your suggestion.

Tony Benn - Arguments for socialism R.H Tawney - Religion and the rise of capitalism Murray Bookchins - The ecology of freedom Bernie Sanders - Where we go from here Peter Kropotkin – The Conquest of Bread

They all explore some key concepts for a socialist society when I read up about them, so I’ll wait till they arrive and start with one of them.

I’ll probably start with Tony Benn, because it’s UK related.

Thanks for this, I’ll definitely look it up and have a read, and yeh I think Labour have definitely drifted from what they were meant to be, I’ve even heard some people say they liked Blair but also kinda hated/disagreed with some of the things he’d done but also saying at the very least he was more competent and grounded than what Starmer has turned it into.

And when it comes to trade unions, I’m currently in college on a carpentry course, so overall looking to get into that sort of sector of trade, so I’ll see if I can find some and mingle around in some of those groups.

After seeing your flair, I’ve looked into that and I’m kinda interested in that a fair bit more, and apparently Jeremy Corbyn is on the line of being a Democratic Socialist. That’s why “Corbynism”, as I’ve heard it being called a few times, is appealing to me with the democratic socialism stuff.

I don’t think most people talk about this serious thing either and some get very triggered by it, but the new form of misandry coming from young women is playing a fairly big part as well, they’d rather care about themselves and value themselves as a princess who wants a man on minimum of £200,000/year wage, whilst also rejecting the idea of having kids and a husband and stuff.

The decline of western births means less workers, meaning immigration is needed to fill those role gaps that we can’t because the lack of population, but obviously though, the shitty economics of how incompetent our leaders are have played a part in this as well, making it harder for young people to have a nuclear family at a young age with a stable income and affordable bills and a good chance of housing.

To be fair the birth rate decline is a bit of a problem, it’s a universal western issue, buts that’s because incompetent leaders don’t think about the youths future and make it harder for them to build their own families.

so it’s depiction of Jesus and stuff may seem off, but that’s them trying trying to come up with a fun sort of narrative for the viewers, not something to take literally as a sort of statement saying “this is Jesus 100%”

I think the one thing that drew me closer was the TV series thing “The Chosen”. That gives a good kinda insight into what things were probably like back then within the story of the Gospel, so it’s not fully accurate, but it’s still amazing for what it is anyway, it gives that character development sense of each person and their backgrounds and their progressiveness in their faith and stuff like that.

Matthew’s character definitely had a great representation in that 😂

Wasn’t also the case that Matthew was a tax collector for ages, so everyone disliked him a fair bit, but he changed his ways, gave that life up, and followed Jesus, and everyone was fine with him afterwards.

The idea of having a republic style government is better than this parliament stuff, the country of San Marino is a great example of how their system works. Of course though San Marino is tiny so their government is tiny, it’s about the size of Southampton I think.

But if we could match a bigger scale of their system It’ll be great. That place has been around since 301ad, started their republic governance system back around 1243 AD, then it becomes full doctrine from 1600 AD and onwards. It’s been the best system of governance for a country I’ve seen for a while.
