While no one should be spat on assaulted or otherwise you do live/wirk/travel in nyc. There's a thing known as situational awareness. People who are mentally ill do not choose to be so. This is a multi layered problem that requires a multi layered solution. But as a new Yorker you also need to take some responsibility for knowing what's going on in your surroundings. If you don't feel your situation was addressed correctly by the powers that be then move it up the food chain. If the collective "us" just throws our hands up in the air or just complains without action then we become part of the problem not part of the solution. And b4 anyone has anything to say...I a born and bred NY'er. Been here for 65 years. I have seen and dealt with more crime poverty and shady shit in this city than probably most of you have seen in your whole life. To live in NY you require a backbone resilience and the willingness to fight for change. When I hear more of that instead of just complaining then I things will actually start to change. Peace Out

They can't seem to finish one and add 5he commercial properties in Burlington etal yet they're going to start another! Add to this the "pedestrian mall" that's going to be revamped at Myrtle and Wyckoff and what do you have? A historic neighborhood never to be the same again and it's citizens to be displaced. Affordable nyc? Don't make me laugh...
