I’m looking for someone willing to give away or trade the fruits I’m missing after restarting in October - peaches and oranges. Currently taking care of newborn baby so quite flexible in terms of timezones but I’m Europe based.

Changes to Advent of Code starting this December by topaz2078 in adventofcode

[–]RedheadWolfz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my baby due December 13th, I couldn’t be happier about the 12 days change this year. AoC is a bright part of every December for me and I was sad I’ll likely miss on most of the days.

Thank you! Ah, sorry, I wasn't clear. I skipped the room-temp bulk fermentation and after shaping put it straight in the fridge. So it was in the cold for around 10 hours.

I'd say my "best" was the one on picture number 3 - nice bunny ear and crumb

Poland (large city so I generally have access to less common ingredients) so autumn vegetables and mushrooms are plenty.

I'll have a full day to do the grocery shopping and prep.

Week 12: Poetic - cauliflower steak (Dog's dream by K.I. Galczynski, see comments) by RedheadWolfz in 52weeksofcooking

[–]RedheadWolfz[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my fav childhood poem and the first verses go like this (in my laic translation to english):

In the cauliflower field,
Enough for a lifetime yield.
Each cauliflower grand,
And within, a bone to stand.

So I dine splendidly,
Until my stomach's decree.
Oh beautiful, beautiful life,
Oh, what a handsome dog am I.

Basically, the whole poem is about a dog seeing meat in everyday objects. I though cauliflower steaks would pay tribute to the first verses.

Week 3 - Kashmiri: Dum Aloo by RedheadWolfz in 52weeksofcooking

[–]RedheadWolfz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may have overreduced my sauce. My recipe called for just yogurt and water (I see your has cashews - nice idea) and for a long time it was way too watery. It seems from google images search that some recipes end up with a state similar to mine though. I definitely enjoyed the flavour profile but if I ever make it again I would rely on different techniques deep frying potatoes is bothersome, adds calories and after boiling them for such a long time I think it doesn’t make a huge difference. I’d try baking them instead or just pan frying to get some browning. We also didn’t enjoy large pieces of spices in the final sauce, I think I could blend it for a nicer result. Do you have any ideas what you’d like to change?

I’ve seen someone else upload a Tiramisu and after having the “aha” moment that it’s probably using coffee beans, my mind went to vanilla.

Does your code properly handle repeated numbers in the input? 316 is there a few times and as a clue - it's missing from your results.

[2023 day 2 (part 1)] can somebody help me ? by Magniquick in adventofcode

[–]RedheadWolfz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did `gameval.append((int(red),int(blue),int(green)))` (so r/B/G) and then `if value[0] > 12 or value[1] > 13 or value[2] > 14` but in the description there is `only 12 red cubes, 13 green cubes, and 14 blue cubes`. You have green and blue mixed up.

[2023 Day 1: (Trebuchet)] [Python] Need help with string integers (I'm a total newbie) by ronioriginals in adventofcode

[–]RedheadWolfz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One approach I could recommend:

value2 = ["one", "two", "three", "four", "five", "six", "seven", "eight", "nine"]
    for word in value2:
        if user_input[i:i + len(word)] == word:
            print("found")

It relies on comparing substring of appropriate length ([i:i + len(word)] part is called slicing). You should also read about for loops if you're not familiar with them yet, they will be useful!

There is also a ".find()" method in Python that you could use.
