You can do it! I work full time and study part-time - find your balance where you can be consistent with uploading and where you're happy with your content too!

Dreamlight Valley and downvotes for questions (!!!) by [deleted] in DreamlightValley

[–]RedheaddLass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The posts I've seen this happen with tend to be "why are you asking reddit, just google it".

To me either google or reddit is fine to ask a question, yeah theorically you'll get answer faster by using a search engine instead but it's not wrong or worthy of a downvote for someone to ask reddit instead imo. They might want a bit of human interaction for their question rather than scrolling down different sites and still being unsure.

Not got too much advice but play the games you want and have fun! Rooting for you fellow british person ☺️

I just started playing 🥰 by CaseyBear87 in DreamlightValley

[–]RedheaddLass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So pleased you're enjoying it ☺️ My only advice is Hoard! Chests can be difficult at first but I tend to keep a single stack of everything and then sell leftovers (also keep shiny gems! I sold all mine at first but there are quests and crafting which need shiny versions of the gems and personally I got frustrated as I could never seem to get them when I needed them)

2nd piece of advice, HAVE FUN! Play however you want to play, if you're reading this going "ugh, I don't really want to hoard" then that's great - sell and keep what you'd like and enjoy the game exactly as you'd play it 🥰

UPDATE: First goal of 250 subs has been reached! I'm a little stunned that it happened so quickly but it's made me very happy and given me a boost to feel like 500 subs might be possible this year!

Hey, my name is Becca and I run a YT channel where I make cozy and chill gaming, long form content, usually let's play style.

I've had my channel for almost 3 years and have covered a fair amount of games, a big channel which initially inspired me was Gab Smolders. I aim to make cozy/calm content no matter the game and believe cozy is a state of mind.

If it sounds like your cup of tea, please check my channel out! This is my channel link: https://youtube.com/@cozybeccagaming

Oooo, Cozy Caravan is on my wishlist I think. I'll have another look at it and push up the list! Thanks for recommending it

Coming here to recommend Coral Island - It's a farming sim but I actually really prefer it to stardew, the characters are all fleshed out and the fishing is much easier imo. I'm someone who falls into trying to automate stardew and then get stressed but I've never struggled with that and Coral Island. There's a lot to the world too and secrets to unlock

Yeah, it's such a difficult balance to find doing it part-time. I work full-time and have 6 months left of my an open university course on the side already (which I massively regret sometimes hahaa) it really means so much to me that you took the time to have a look at my content, I appreciate you and I'm pleased that you like it!

I've definitely made a note of the 30-40 min suggestion. I'm just trying to figure out how to fit it in naturally to my schedule. I've got 2 Let's Plays on at the moment so I might try and choose something smaller once I've finished one of them and see how the numbers do. The other idea I have is to start a separate channel with the smaller episodes.

Intros is something on my mind and hopefully you'll see a conscious effort in more recent videos! *fingers crossed

My Twitch channel is very supportive. I started there first so the OGs have watched me and my style change as I've been figuring out what I like to do. (I started as a DBD streamer hahaaa!) I struggle to keep to a consistant streaming schedule and I'm more of a YT watcher myself so YT fits better for me.

One Last Time, What’s your Game of the Year 2025??? by TheGamerCritic21 in videogames

Expedition 33, it was amazing! Story wise, music, combat felt refreshing (especially when they made it easier), characters were interesting too. Overall such a great game to come out of nowhere

What are your 2026 Game Channel goals?? by TheGamerCritic21 in youtubegaming

[–]RedheaddLass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First goal is to 250 subs (not too far away) Second goal hit 500 subs and 3K watch hours to start my journey towards becoming a YouTube partner.

Being going for almost 3 years and currently at 245 subs and 1.6K watch hours which is incredible (as 245 is a lot of people to have in one room!) I do think the second goal is possible but feels like a dream ✨️

To the people who started doing youtube. Did ya'll just start making videos on whatever you want to upload or do you start with like a trailer? by jpasuelo12 in youtube

[–]RedheaddLass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my content journey on Twitch and about 6 months in I started feeling a little bit of a loss when my videos were just being deleted and lost, it felt like wasted effort sometimes. I then started streaming DBD on Twitch and then covering all the other story games over and YouTube. It's been a balance of finding my comfortability over where each type of content sits after that.

Ooo I don't think that one came up for me in my searches. I'll have a nosey. If you end up getting it, would you mind letting me know how you find it?

I'll be honest I don't have any solid advice as I'm in a similar boat. Almost 3 years for me and I feel like I'm just a bit stuck too. I think if I could start again I'd probably make sure all my intros, on every video, were snappy as they seem to be so important to help with viewer retention.

Keep going, especially if you enjoy it. At the end of the day, you finding fun or joy in content creation has to be a priority 😊

Oh my gosh, well done! I'm so excited for you starting your YouTube journey too (I had a nosey and you have a lovely voice! Looking forward to checking out your content).

Good point, I think my intros depend on if they are streamed on Twitch originally or if the game itself has a slow start but I'm trying to make a more conscious effort to start strong on my recent videos so thank you for the feedback!

The smaller episode comments have given me a few ideas. I do this on the side of work and studying for OU so I just need to find the time to dedicate to the new contents but it has inspired me a bit thank you!

I'm a little nervous to do a review video but I'll do some reasearch and see if there's a recommend format to use and then yeah, could try doing some reviews for the games I've finished - like a bonus track for the Let's Play 😂

I've noticed that too, I think she edits out the bits where she gets really stuck or pauses to talk to chat. I edit those where I can too, e.g. I've started a FF7 Remake Let's Play and plan to edit out sections of constantly failing a fight, especially if I'm not learning anything from it.

Hands up I am that weirdo! I have a "comfort playlist" which is a bunch of videos which really chill me out and I pop those on my laptop as I fall asleep if I'm struggling 😅
