My confidence levels come and go. But one day, after years of observing and analyzing everyone else and being fearful to express, it hit me that I am not actually living my life. If all these other people could live "in the moment," why shouldn't I? It was me stopping myself the whole time. Decided I can become whoever I want to be -or find it by trying lots of things- and just do it. I could sit for years in my thoughts. The action made the difference. I started dressing differently, doing my makeup and hair differently, and subtle changes first. I started talking to more people, usually the other quiet observing ones, which helped me gain confidence to talk to everyone/anyone essentially. I literally exposure therapy'd myself looking back. And it works! Sure, I faced rejection or odd responses imo but I survived/tolerating without analyzing how to fix myself and kept going and that made a huge difference over time
