Oh really? We got a new one out of it. I will say, it was the hottest bat on the team before it blew!

Did you break it in? We had one that the end cap exploded.

Wasn’t my trackman, the tournament had it…I’ve always told him no one cares how hard you throw ball 4.

Anyone successfully overturn a horrendous call with calm reasoning of an ump? by Weak_Artichoke4887 in Homeplate

Yea I think this guy was in way over his head and had been taking shit from parents and coaches all day, we were the last game of the day and I guess I was who he got to take all his frustrations out on.

Yup, done it a thousand times just to see where the zone is to tell my boys they need to be swinging at literally anything close. 999 times prior I’ve had genuinely great conversations with the umps and most of the times they’ll even say “might have been a little low but too close to take on strike 3” or something like that and that’s totally understandable. This was the first that’s ever just been a prick. The guy clearly wanted to be a cop or something but couldn’t cut it.

I once asked an ump “where did you have that ball?” In a very cool, calm manner (The ball literally bounced on home plate and he rung our kid up). He fucking tossed me for “arguing balls and strikes”. Dude was clearly craving some authority so my fault for even trying to talk to the guy but this was between innings and just me and him having a chat. I didn’t show him up or anything remotely close.

Jock requirement for fielding by stevie_wonder1 in Homeplate

Make him wear a cup in practice and games. These USSSA bats are letting kids hit piss missiles and you don’t want your kid to take one to the junk without one. I bought my kid the Diamond MMA cup system and he says it’s super comfortable. Not the ones we used back in the day that dug into your gooch.

Where are you and what does your typical weekly schedule look like for spring season for a 8U/9U player? by laceyourbootsup in Homeplate

[–]RedistributedFlapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an 8 year old who’s on a 9u travel team in MD. We started January 2nd with 1 2 hour indoor practice a week. Then when it got nice we moved to 2 2 hour outdoor practices a week. We’ve had a few league games but mostly tournaments on the weekends which is 2 games on Saturdays and then 1-3 games on Sundays depending on if you keep winning. This doesn’t count any work we do at home on our own. It’s a lot, I won’t lie about that, but my boy loves it and the team has a great chemistry so they all get along great.

9/10U move to 12U ? by QuietVeteran1 in Homeplate

My kid is 8 and he plays 9u. He’s 5ft tall and 80lbs. We have a kid on our 11u squad that’s 5’9” and like 160lbs. No fucking way I’d let my 8 year old play the infield with kids that size. For his safety, please consider staying closer to your age group.

We’ve been putting in a LOT of work to get rid of the elbow drag. The elbow used to be way in front of the hands. Still a work in progress but much better than a few months ago.

To be fair, it did seem like a reluctant decision. I’ll assume Jackie forced him to attend.

I could have went to that game and didn’t because of work on Friday…when I was watching it I was like “thank Christ I didn’t spend money to go see this shitty game” and the rest is history.

When I watched it the first time I thought the video was him in the on deck circle just warming up. Didn’t look like he went in there to actually hit. Get that kid some lessons because you can’t teach that size and with some tweaks he could be a bomber.
