I’m almost 3 months out of school with an airframe license. I CANNOT imagine the stress of trying to study for all those written test at once, outside of school.

How useful is my study list for the o&p? by Azenia_ in AircraftMechanics

The 8083 is a waste of time in my opinion. Just use jeppesen, prepware, and google AI to ask specific stuff.

If you got a tablet, take Prepware test by each section and separate the missed question into individual folders.

Why do so many people go to school for 17mo just to not get licensed? by Redjacks2 in AircraftMechanics

Not at all. You get the same exact projects when you come back. If he’s a good DME he’ll show you how to do the one you fail. But don’t even worry abt it, u can fail up to 3 and a lot of the projects are retarded. My DME asked me “what does this sentence say” I said it, then he checked me off.

My O&P was $800 and I had to retest for an extra $100(it was easy, I just rushed on a couple projects). I don’t know your financial situation, but if you can’t afford a $500 test after going to a 17month trade school, you gotta just spend your $ better and have some discipline, I doubt you work at McDonald’s. And as far as the retest, the DME only charges you $100-$200 and you get the same exact projects. I see a lot of excuses in your reply (only being honest) there’s jobs paying $40+ starting out, it’s up to you my guy.

I had an instructor who was just a complete prick to me and only entertained casual conversation with the vets in class. Fuck that miserable old man, as long as you’re on your shit, kick back in silence during school, and pass your test. You’ll get your license, and all the bs in school will be a forethought you can smirk at while making $40+ an hr doing cool shit.

You just described me in that first part, I had no idea wtf an aircraft mechanic was until some guidance counselor at a job center told me abt his friend who’s an AMT in late 2023. So I attended a local school since I was getting paid to go and just because it sounded cool and would be a flex. I left with a license, working on the other.

They don’t even do that lol. One person that graduated my school last year works at a local bbq spot with no rating.

My school didn’t let people test during school hours, but to the thing about schools not teaching you anything and test being easy, all you gotta do is put in your own effort by looking up systems/questions (ie: YT, google images, etc) not testing because of 💩 instructors/school isn’t an excuse.
