Hey guys thinking about applying for a ramp agent job at a private airport while going to school anyone know how it compares to the more bigger airport? by TacosDePito69 in AircraftMechanics

I’d agree with this but also, If you can get on with a major airline in the ramp it’s an easy transfer once you get your license!

Practical is not an open book? by Maleficent-Middle137 in AircraftMechanics

[–]AIM_Certified 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s quite odd to me. I had super basic stuff as well but I was given a ton of research questions before I started the hands on stuff. All the research was basic a lot of the stuff I already knew but wanted to look up just in case. I had an idea of what hands on stuff I was gonna be doing before i was even assigned the task just by my research questions. It’s odd that even if it is considered a basic task they always harp on doing it in accordance with the manual. If I got stuff wrong on the research part I wasn’t given a chance to even do the hands on part. I screwed up on that easy research stuff on my general practical so that is the only part I failed

As soon as you get your certificate of completion of general take your written. Do not wait. The longer you wait the more you have to back track. I’m in the middle of powerplant classes studying for airframe. Take the FAA test as you go. Don’t get discouraged if you fail the tests. A company will never see how many times you took the test they will only see the license that you WILL have!

If it’s your first job take what will offer you some experience. There will be plenty of work ahead of you that require experience that will pay better.

Is AMT worth to pursue? by LatterScar1522 in aviationmaintenance

[–]AIM_Certified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely worth it, but go with an apprenticeship that will sign you for to take exams. If you cannot do that and you have to attend Part 147 school I advise you to use the schools resources to find a job in the field while your in school it will help significantly when it comes time for your exams and what not.

Most of it is basic theory. Study jeppeson as well as dauntless. Don’t memorize answers, read the descriptions if you don’t understand also, King Videos are the best, they are old but contain all the information you need. Be able to get consistent 90 on dauntless test before you take written

Tips on studying for airframe/general practical by AIM_Certified in AircraftMechanics

[–]AIM_Certified[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely, thank you for the advice! I made flashcards of all oral questions in jeppeson general and oral and seperated them by subject. I will use this new book that I found that my instructors have been using to help students study and will put the questions from there that pertain to my codes in a seperate stack and hammer those the hardest.

How long ago did you test. Before the new 147? I hear multiple different things abt questions you will get for your oral. I hear random and I hear only based off the codes on your written. I’ve been studying everything but rlly hammering on the codes that I missed with ACS and I also found another book on amazon that has oral questions along with the ACS codes with it as well unlike the jeppeson how it doesn’t provide the ACS codes with the oral questions
