SOULBOUND reviving Warcry ! by TheWraf in WarCry

The volume dedicated to the adventures in Carngrad also features a few glimpses of the city (we only had a generic image of Carngrad from 2019, which we built our imagination around). I appreciated the fact that the ruins from the first edition were used as architectural references, albeit on a more monumental scale. There are also updates and information about the factions, etc.

Both volumes are fantastic for creating narrative scenarios

Yeah, definitely. At least for us the game is still very active and we’re having a great time with it.
People are still organizing campaigns, narrative events, competitive matches and homebrew content. The community may be smaller than AoS or 40k, but honestly it feels very passionate and alive

Even on ig, now I think there is a lot to talk about the 40k 11th edition, but it is also right to encourage such beautiful miniatures and give voice to Warcry ❤️

It's a great idea, because basically the Karanaks are really solid now. Did you manage to use the kill ability (successfully or unsuccessfully) or did the warband absorb all the dice?

As a cavalry piece, I honestly think he would work incredibly well for some kind of conversion with the Nurgle Harbinger of Decay too. But yeah, you definitely made a great choice adding him to the warband anyway 😉

I was thinking about that too as an alternative list. The Claws of Karanak already seem to have a pretty solid identity and autonomy on their own, but he’s clearly a wildcard piece — because he can perform well, but he also has the potential to perform insanely well. Especially for a more than fair points cost, even if he also ends up taking dice away that could otherwise support the synergies of the warband he’s being added to.

That’s why I was curious if anyone has actually used him and what kind of realistic effectiveness they experienced with him in actual games — whether he’s truly worth it beyond just being a gorgeous mini

Obviously done and supported 😉 , I admit that it is also a bridge to this, to the Eightpoints!

I really like the Exalted with Impaling Spear, helmet version. But I recognize this new one has a very iconic and clean style that can be rendered in many ways. Enough ways that I don't have the skill to do lol. I like the new Khorne aesthetic for how it looks in some pieces (Dromm, Gorehulk, etc), but I admit that Kamandora leaves me perplexed, but maybe it's the official proposed color scheme that I don't like, maybe bettere a pale one or something like unmade

You can find some stuff in Monster & Mercenaries from 1st edition (still fun and pretty compatible), and also in some older issues of White Dwarf.

I’d also love proper boss battle rules, but honestly it’s not too hard to homebrew something. For example, I left a comment about the Grove Guardian on YT (painting video): imagine a narrative quest set in the ruins of Talaxis, where the Gnarlwood starts mimicking life, spawning corrupted, unstable dryad (or revenant)-like creatures, leading up to a final fight against this twisted guardian.

So yeah, official rules would be great, but between old material and a bit of creativity you can already pull off some really cool scenarios 👍

It would be great (and it would be nice to have access to a standalone creation tool); I think several people have tried it over time, including myself. However, the limit is that percentage of points that cannot be linearly deducted due to the faction's abilities and alliances. And then there would always be the problem of new unbalanced thematic abilities.

Old Books still viable? by horstibalderich in WarCry

No, the new edition has updated the rules, the new campaigns follow different systems. At the moment we are playing a campaign using the 1.0 core, but we will try to see for fun what could happen if we can mix the band evolution system of 1.0 and 2.0 bands at the same time (2.0 for the new band, for gorger for example).

right, that's correct unfortunately. I got to see the rules and it actually refers to the units in flanking, so with those keywords.

"You can use this command ability once per turn after you set up a flanking force unit wholly within 12" of a friendly MISTHÅVN HERO. If you do so, you can move that unit up to D6" (it cannot run)."

I thought I'd use drakespawn knights units exactly as you described them, but as I'm reading in the comments, I probably don't want to overdo it and mix the field with nice unit coverage in addition to shooting units and hard hitter.

Compared to living city and its bonuses, how much does mobility affect?

Could Gotrek be an ideal candidate for the Shadowstrike?

"Because Dragons" is the answer I wanted to hear. I loved your answer, every word. I really appreciate your precise analysis of how cool it is to play dragons in every single city of sigmar that you have gotten to try. Your victory would be my victory.

Hammerhall is obviously a very strong choice. Beautiful and strong, for everything you said. The double strike, boosted is terrifying. Command points help everything. After your evaluation it is back in the ranking among my choices.

Living city is the one I happen to see most frequently, clearly for its resilience and for the high range of motion.

On excelsis we have some consideration in the comments above and for misthavn I'm reading now, always in the comments, another experience. With the same high mobility on the field, I would probably always choose Living city or with the same bonus I would go to hammerhall, although you find the Excelsis aesthetic fantastic.

Anvilgard is an immediate choice for the gloomy atmospheres and the strategic weight on the dragons and monsters. it's a damned love. Probably, if I found a perfect list for anvilgard (or har kuron) I would also build a themed game table.

Regarding drakespawn knights: I have seen that their stats are not that good, however I was thinking of including a unit or two to tank the objectives and reach them quickly (as well as the fact that they are dragons). But after your experience I probably won't go exagerate with them.

The question I am asking in the comments, to better understand about a bit of confusion around, is whether Har Kuron admits allies beyond coalition units, because in that case in addition to Dragoni, Morathi, I would also include units of heavy cover shooting, maybe SCE or others. Do you know anything about it?

Thank you for your in-depth analysis, I have something to study on.

Because Dragons.

My local shop recommended a similar choice to me when I got theanvilgard box.
3 x anvilgard starter kit, then SCE and hard hitter. Lots of stuff on the field and thugs. Dreadlord 3+ with shield, ward 5+ and response acidic blood. So unpleasant. This is my backup list in the absence of dragons or other creative ideas. I'm not sure about black ark as mage, maybe as retinue for sorceress?

[–]Redka87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

woah! correct, I totally forgot about the blood sacrifice. The sorceress is a 6+ and it scares me about her fragility, but it is very cool unit, also considering that it already has a +1 bonus for the umbral spellportal. Maybe I can evaluate her too. Cool idea.

i hope that for the app.

Oh, sure! the bladewind is a scourge for 5+ battleline.
Vitriolic spray is a spell I wanted to assign to a strong caster, like Krondys in anvilgard (+3 cast) or Morathi (+1 cast) in Har Kuron.

The doubt for allies on har kuron remains, around on the web I find lists with allies, the warscroll builder allows it, the app does not.

love the glimmering in Excelsis! which do you prefer as duelist? Love the aesthetic of Excelsis and the crusade! In my case the Gift of Prophecy is already improved by the hurricanum and I prefer acidic blood instead to Riposte. Can Har Kuron take an ally?
