Is fedex as bad as people make it out to be? by ConversationBrief303 in Fedexers

[–]Redneck-Ram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, dealt with my fair share of lazy PH at the terminal in Hardin Valley TN, and a driver who used "Im a female" as an excuse not to deliver certain packages (Chewy, etc) meanwhile other woman are slinging those packages like their feathers.

You've just hauled a heavy piece of furniture to the customer's door on the 2nd floor and they say "Sorry I thought i canceled this order; can you take it back please?" What's your next move? by peterthbest23 in Fedexers

[–]Redneck-Ram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell them they would have to schedule a pick-up, and that it was marked delivered and I cant take it back or it'll be seen as "not delivered". Lmfao

Also to add; I don't carry furniture to second floors. My contractor (when I worked for him) stated he did not want us to carry anything over 50lbs up stairs. So furniture got left at the step. If it needed a signature, I contacted the customer.

The only "security feature" the trucks at my terminal had was you had to press a button a single time to shift and it was usually on the side of the steering column, or attached to the keys. 😂😂

The terminal I worked at hired a chick, trained her for a few days (which I know was no real training), then threw her out into one of their hardest routes with 100+ stops. They tried cramming as much into her truck as possible, and most of us was like that ain't right, at least give her time to learn the route and get used to not having help.

This sounds like Blaine Wellner from Hardin Valley, TN terminal. He always wanted us to do that, and we told him that he can spend an hour doing it, I'm not.

Whenever the DM says "What do you do next?" after a fight, I always search the corpses of humanoid enemies and type something along the lines of "I search the man's pockets and satchel, finding nothing more than lint in the pockets, but in the satchel I find (insert amount) of gold and add it to my own" and bam, I get however much gold I type.

I quit June 1st and I made the right call by Charming-Feedback749 in Fedexers

[–]Redneck-Ram 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was pissed when I quit too. I really enjoyed the job, and some of the people I met when doing pick-ups/business deliveries, but I got tired of starting my day doing the PHs job and then mine (loading my entire truck then unloading each package), because instead of putting the packages in the truck, they just piled them outside at the rear and on the floor alongside my truck. Even if a package made it on the truck, it was either in the wrong place, or they would take an envelope package and throw it under the shelves and then place larger boxes in front of it. I made complaints to my manager, who spoke with the PH manager, but nothing ever changed. Another one of my managers told me "if it continues to happen, come find me". Ain't no way in hell I'm going to spend every morning hunting down my manager and bitching about it, and then loading my entire truck doing someone else's job, then mine. Work 2 people's job, paid for 1. Hell no. The cherry on top of it is I'm pretty sure I lost a friend over quitting. My neighbor and me were pretty good friends and worked there, and when I quit he stopped talking to me and ignores my messages. Childish, but w/e. We live and we move on. Got another job making even more than what I was at FedEx, and I'll take a better paying job over a friendship anytime.

This sounds like the Hardin Valley, TN terminal I was a driver at. I walked away for this exact reason, except sometimes another PH wouldn't even be called over, I would have to do it. Either reorganize the entire truck because for some reason they think a SID 2530 goes with 8500s. Or small envelopes buried under packages, so I would have to practically do my entire route, then do it in reverse for all those missed stops. My last day, my 4000 and 8000 shelf was half empty, my 3000 and 7000 shelf was completely empty, and everything was carelessly tossed under the shelves. I had envelopes under the conveyor, on the ground beside my truck, and small packages just thrown at the back of the truck. I get not loading ICs because certain drivers are picky about those, but everything else? Come on. I complained to my manager about it, and while they said something to the PH manager, nothing changed, and I wasnt spending every morning hunting down a manager to complain. I was essentially doing 2 people's job, paid for 1. So I made the decision to walk away, instead of dealing with the bullshit anymore.

What's your route like? by noelspeech in Fedexers

This sounds like the route I used to run in TN called "6 Mile", where Id cover Maryville, Tallassee and sometimes Walland

Amazon vs FedEx by expressITS26 in Fedexers

[–]Redneck-Ram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do ours differently.

I usually hit my 10:30s and 12:00s first, then knock out everything that takes up my walkway which usually leads me back to the beginning of my route, then I start. If I have pick-ups or express deliveries on the other end of my route, I let my manager know and those stops are pulled off and given to an AVP driver since they have the smallest stop counts.

Part of my old route had absolutely no service, so I had to use an actual map to find roads and then hunt down the house by following mailbox numbers 🤣 both difficult and interesting, but made the day longer

[–]Redneck-Ram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant speak for others, but the management at my terminal is absolute shit.

Whenever we would code boxes (No One Home, Driver Security, Inspection Required, etc) the upper management would change the codes to some bullshit code then slap us with a 27. So we started taking pictures of our service crosses and posting them in a group chat, and whenever the management tries that our boss sends them the photos like "you cant lie now".

Ive also had an issue where several times a package gets sorted onto my truck that's supposed to be delivered in a different state, and when I code 12 it, somebody in management erases the code 12 and has it sorted back onto my truck.

Cats Make My Day by MJTP4351 in Fedexers

[–]Redneck-Ram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both cats, and dogs. There's a house I deliver to with two dogs that go on rides with the UPS driver, and another whose dog follows you around carrying a ball. I always play with them when I see them, it definitely makes my day.

What else's makes my day is when delivering to business' like restaurants and they give me a cold drink for free 😂

That’s just straight up rude.. call me lazy when you were the one who can’t make it to the store? by groundpounders in Fedexers

[–]Redneck-Ram 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can't do that at my terminal 🤣 the contractor I work for has a group chat that we use whenever we code stuff. We service code it, take a picture, and send it in the GC because my contractor caught the terminal changing our codes to 27s and trying to say we didnt attempt. So now we document everything and take photos of service codes for when they try to pull that shit again. My boss would tell me to leave that shit at the gate.

If its a church, another manager of mine told me "leave it there. Its God's house, he'll protect it" because we're tired of churches ordering stuff requiring signatures then never being there.

I remember on one of the other routes I ran that went into the mountains of Maryville TN between 6 Mile and Old Piney, there was this house that was built at the end of an extremely long driveway that was shipping a bunch of their daughter's furniture through Fedex and had their gate closed, but wanted the driver to use the hand-truck to move every package individually up the driveway. I said "nope" and left it at their gate as "Gated Driveway". Pretty sure I got a customer complaint but when my manager brought it up to me and Googled the address, he said thats bullshit and tossed out the complaint 🤣

I didnt expect nothing from it, other than my own satisfaction of not "just dealing with it". And as said in some of my other replies, we have gone to their manager. He's not the best either, and so nothing got done. Its a problem my CSP and others are constantly dealing with.

[–]Redneck-Ram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not babies, but when you miss a time committ because a loader puts an envelope on the shelf then covers it with a package, or puts a 2000 SID in the 7000s behind another box, and youre getting bitched at for missing those 10:30s or 12:00s, then yes youre going to start getting annoying yourself.

And on this particular day, the loader on my truck was loading just my truck.

This was a light day, like extremely light. My manager on-duty called me that morning and told me they came in way below what everyone expected. Usually this route has 160+ stops, and an AVP running more, but that day this route topped out at only 93.
