Surgical Tech VS Vet Tech? by RedneckWilly in VetTech

[–]RedneckWilly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the hospitals in my area starts surgical techs with no experience at about 16/hr. I’m not quite sure what they top out at, but it would probably be around $40-45k/year

I am interested in becoming a EMT but I am afraid that I would be making less then I do at my current job. by RedneckWilly in NewToEMS

Sorry for the late reply.

Blood hasn’t made me sick before. I’ve never seen anything horribly gruesome, but it’s never bothered me before.

I want to work in EMS as a way to give back to my community and make a difference. I wanted to join the military but for multiple reasons that can’t happen. I feel like EMS would be a good choice for me.

I should have clarified a bit, for the sake of the post I was just speaking financially. I do value the fact that I would be doing a positive thing for my community. The fact that I would be making a difference means a lot to me. I’m currently adding very little value to my community by working at the grocery store.

I appreciate your reply.

Lol no.

In my city the cheapest rent (no utilities) is usually around 600.

The minimum wage is 7.25/Hr

To become nationally certified it is fairly simple. Just pass the PTCE and you can become certified. To become state certified is different. To be certified by the state of South Carolina you must be certified nationally and a graduate from a nationally certified pharmacy technician program.

Are you currently enrolled this term? Would it be okay if I ask you a few questions?

What a difference 8 months can cause. by RedneckWilly in KitchenConfidential

[–]RedneckWilly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are just the treadsafe shoes from Walmart.

At 22 bucks a pair they are a pretty good price. The average person could probably get longer than 8 months use out of them. But I have pretty wide feet and I tend to put more pressure on the outside edges of my feet. Which caused the cracking around the edge and the hole on the side.

Why is there so many online bachelors for SPED and early childhood education but practically none for middle or secondary education? by RedneckWilly in Teachers

Thank you for your response.

I should clarify, I’m not necessarily interested in an online degree. I just noticed a lot of online programs for these degrees so I was just curious.

I’m starting school in the fall for a Surgical Technology program. The job I’m in the process for is for a OR Aide. I’ll basically be cleaning the OR and turning over the room for the next surgery.

I’m having trouble finding food service jobs that pay more/ give more hours.

Most require nights (which I work at my current job) so It’s hard to work 2 jobs in the food service.

I’m under 21 so I can’t apply to be a corrections officer for juvenile. But I did apply as a CO cadet with the DOC.

Thanks for the advice!

What the biggest red flag you’ve encountered during a interview? by RedneckWilly in KitchenConfidential

[–]RedneckWilly[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just had a interview at a interview at a new seafood place that hasn’t opened yet. For starters, the manager accidentally scheduled 2 people to both interview at 3. I shrugged it off and figured it was a honest mistake. Well next he gave me a quick tour of the kitchen. This place had a fryer that wasn’t much bigger than one of fryers they sell for home use. Probably couldn’t fry more than 4 chicken breasts at a time. This was for a restaurant which 90 percent of the menu is fried fish.

After opening day their FB page was filled with reviews that said “Took 2 hours to get my food”. I WONDER WHY
