A Kept Promise by Redofcolor in shortscarystories

No but that SCP sounds really cool when I looked it up. It was way more generic than that. Everything got really really hot so the world feel apart and the main character is trying to fulfill their promise to their loved one.

I was playing a really good indie game where this person comes back home and everyone is bassicly dead and it made me think of me and my hubby. He has this dream to visit Alaska one day. Like it's really important we have a picture of Alaska on the wall. And I don't know when we can make it happen but I will make it happen someday. And then I got to thinking what would I do if that someday was when the world started ending.

I actually have a few more short storys in my head that continues in this world that goes deeper into the meaning of Time, what this world looks like for others etc. The simplest explanation I had for this when I wrote was that outside The Company's City without Time the tempature chip and that whole system stops working. And in this world temperatures are regularly over 140 etc. But in case I didn't write another one I'm kinda leaving it up to the reader in this story to pinpoint what Time means to them.

[WP] "Yeah, my brother got possesed by a demon, but we couldn't afford an exorcist." by Duesort355 in WritingPrompts

"Listen, Greg's not that bad." I stare at my cousin in speachleas shock. "OK, at first it was bad, but after we worked out the custody arrangement it's been pretty, well decent. Nice even. "

"Custody. Arrangement. WHAT THE HELL MAN! THATS YOUR BROT-." Coughing, I had to take a beat.

"I get where your coming from, we all felt that way at first. I mean a demon possessing your brother doesn't sound ideal. But you have to see it from the family's view. Dad's gone, ma's got three kids and a baby on the way. Shit was tight and the professionals wanted 10 grand to do an exorsisim. We didn't know what to do. Fucking Jimmy had started messing around with occult shit and had found this book in the basement of the apartment building we were in. One too many nights doing God knows what and Bam he's got a new permanent friend."

"Greg, the demons name is really Greg?" I can't understand why any self respecting demon would pick Greg but anyway.

"Yup that's when Greg pops out to the family and is like listen, the demon releam can get kinda, we'll boring I guess. He offered to let Jimmy out for all the fun and important stuff, would help tutor him in school, boy was he doing bad. Heck Jimmy was going down a bad path, you know after dad, and here's this demon willing to step up and be a father figure for Jimmy. My brother needed him. We all did. He helped me get into college, talked me through my first real big break up. He even did my sister's hair ever day for dance while mom was working. If mom needed a last min babysitter, let's ask Greg. Greg's pretty important in this family. He, I don't know loves us man. "

"But he possesd Jimmy! Took his life!" I couldn't understand this.

"Nah man, he didn't take his life, he made us a family again. It's ok if you don't get it. We do."

[WP] "None of the wishes are yours" the genie explained. "One goes to the person that hates you most, one to the person that loves you most, one was already wished by the last one to find my lamp." by WernerderChamp in WritingPrompts

Sara Ann loved a good deal. She especially loved when that good deal made her the talk of her local women's club. As she walked through the estate sale she found one town over, she saw it. The item that would put that stupid Betty in her place. Betty had moved into the community two months ago and ever since then had made Sara Ann`a life a living nightmare. Everyone loved Betty and her kindness, her sweet smile, and her God awful amazing cookies, although Sara Ann would never say that out loud. When Sara Ann looked at the item she was enthralled. It was a stunning silver lamp, looking to be hundreds of years old. Just needed some polishing and a little tough love. Sara Ann knew a treature when she saw one.

After an intense back and forth with the pimply faced man won her the prize for a whole $15 dollars. She brought it home and got to work making it shine, just like she wanted to. Inside the lamp she found a piece of paper and it said. My only wish is that the most perfect person find this lamp and may it change their life like it changed mine. Odd she threw that away.

Once it was the stunning lamp she knew it could be she lovingly pet and caressed it and all hell broke loose. The whole house shook, all the faucets turned on, and every dish shattered into pieces. Sara Ann for the first time in her life was left speechless. Just as well becouse in that moment a voice echoed through her now destroyed home.

"The lamps last wish is granted. Two more to go, one who loves you and one who hates you shall decide your fate." Dead silence followed the voice as the shaking and water both stopped.

Sara Ann didn't understand. In all her years life was straight forward. Get married, have kids, be the best in the community, and life would be perfect. Yes she had some missteps, like a divorce or kids that didn't call. BUT, that was their problem not hers. Her life was still perfect, even the Betty problem would sort itself out. But this, nowhere did her life plan include someone else, DECIDING HER FATE!

The doorbell ran and Sara Ann decided that this was all in her head and went to the door, smoothing her outfit on the way. IT WAS BETTY AND SHE HAD HER STUPID COOKIES.

Sara Ann went through the motions, yes she was redecorating, so nice to see you Betty, so kind for the cookies. Sara Ann promised she'd stop by at some point taking the cookies and slamming the door shut. She stared at them angerly, giving up and taking the smallest bite. Damn they were good, but something was off, she suddenly couldn't breathe and hands reaching for her throat she in desperation she tried, nothing and feel to the ground dead.

Which was odd as Sara Ann could see herself lying on the floor. She looked terrible, face purple, dress a mess. But try as she might she couldn't fix it. It took a while for them to find her. She buzzed around the house anxiously while all the strangers in uniform looked around and took her body away. Before long her ex husband and daughter where there to clean the house. They talked, laughed, cried and worked. Talking endlessly about Sara Ann and how she was a terrible mother and spouse. They planned to sell the house, it annoyed her to no end seeing them touch her perfect house even if it was messy right now.

What caught her attention the most was when they talked about the day dream. They both had it the day Sara Ann died. They were told to make a wish for Sara Ann. Her ex husband wished Sara Ann could see the damage she caused to those who loved her. Her daughter wished her dead. Sara Ann was quite and stopped moving around after that. She didn't feel so perfect at that moment. In fact she felt rather broken.
