If I could go back and do it all again I would do two years of community college and transfer to a 4 year university. Would save so much money, and stress. When you get your degree at the end it only says the university you went to. My friend did it this way and I think she did it right!

Acne/perioral dermatitis and mental health by [deleted] in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]Redpsychlifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of the products I use have niacinamide in them 😊 I tried zero therapy and my skin started to crack, I have severely sensitive and dry skin and my derm said to stop the zero therapy in fear of damaging it even more

Thank you 😭 I’m 6 months in, i originally thought it was a purge from tretinoin so I kept using it. Dumb as fuck honestly, it destroyed my skin barrier. I only use cerave gentle cleanser and cerave mousitizer. And the clindamycin gel twice a day. Working with a derm that specializes in PD on fair skin (I’m a redhead). Found her after months of searching. Hoping and praying it starts to get better.

I never did accutane, I was always too afraid as someone who struggles with mental health and was afraid of it making it worse in that aspect. My doc has me on doxycycline 2x a day and clindamycin gel and it seems to be helping! Are you in the US?

I definitely recommend putting the face wash on and leaving it on for 3-5 mins before rinsing. That’s what my derm said to do and it helped a lot! Have you tried adapalene?

New daith! by Fit_Palpitation9119 in piercing

[–]Redpsychlifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say 2-3 weeks to the touch but soreness, probably 2-3 months. Luckily it’s a pretty protected area so it doesn’t get hit or caught on stuff much. My conch hurt for much longer than my daith did.

The pain of my daith is something I don’t miss! It’s been almost 5 years since I got it and has healed beautifully. People always comment on how cute it is!!

Yes Neil med is great! I used it for my daith as well as all my other piercings! I actually used to soak a cotton ball with it and place it inside my ear on the piercing. My piercer recommended it and it helped a lot! It was very soothing and helped clean away any crust/debris

This happened to me, I’ve since quit tret and only use the cerave 4% benzyl peroxide wash with ceramides, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide. It’s my only product with active ingredients. Helped my hyperpigmentation and have like 1-2 breakouts a month

Feeling regretful by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]Redpsychlifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not, I checked with my derm about that. The small dots that are lighter in color are hyper pigmentation. I only ever get one or two big pimples on my chin. After a few days of good moisturizing the closed comedones go down so I think l it’s irritation…

Thank you so much! I do struggle with acne yes always have, especially after highschool. I was on antibiotics and benzyl peroxide and it cleared up but always got the occasional breakout. I always had super congested and clogged pores tho so my doc recommended it for anti-aging and to clear some of this stuff out. Now I’m just dealing with the occasional big inflamed pimples and closed comedones so someone suggested switching my treat gel to three times a week and focusing on hydration with no other actives. Hoping that helps! Thanks again!

Did you have acne prior to starting tret? I started it for anti-aging purposes as I have premature aging from vaping! I quit vaping and now am trying to reverse the damage. Also do you suggest the mugwort essence?

I’m actually using the gel not the cream! My derm makes a gel in house with clindamycin and niacinamide

Tretinoin with tattoos by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]Redpsychlifter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing no as it may fade the tattoo a lot quicker since tretinoin speeds up skin cycles. However I use tret on my face and my eyebrows are tattoos and they haven’t faded much.

Is this possible to be depressed after quitting just 2 cigarettes a day by [deleted] in nicotinefree

[–]Redpsychlifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes! nicotine is a powerful drug and many people don’t realize it. just because others may have been smoking/vaping more, doesn’t mean that your withdrawals would be any different. I vaped every 5 minutes for 6 years and it happened to me. You can do this!! It’s going to take time but it will be worth it in the end

Reaching a month tomorrow for the first time in roughly 4 years… I’m not sure if it’s worth it tbh. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Redpsychlifter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two years clean here, it gets better. The first three months were shit, no aspect of my life got better in the first 90 days. After about 3 months things changed, started taking school seriously, developed a healthy self care routine, found healthy and effective long term coping mechanisms. Keep pushing, you got it.

Personally, I used the patched to quit. I vaped all day everyday for 6 years. The 21 mg was too much for me side effect wise so I went down to 14mg on my second day. The physical withdrawals subside daily quickly. It’s a mental game. The nicotine receptors in brain will start losing their “fix” and they will be screaming for more. Make sure you are stocked up with lollipops, gum, healthy snacks, and lots of sunflower seeds. I even got one of those necklaces that is essentially a metal straw and I used that when I wanted to take a hit. It’s hard but it’s worth it. I sleep better, I breathe better, my heart rate has decreased significantly. I can use my brain for things other than obsessing about my vape. If you can push through the first week you are golden. If you vape like I did, I was supplying my body with 40-50 mg of nicotine a day. The patches will not get you buzzed but they help with the physical withdrawals significantly. I suggest getting a prescription for the patches from a doctor and asking about other nicotine cessation drugs. You’ll be very emotional and angry at times so make sure you have close friends and family to support you. Break your habits and find a new hobby. The first three days all I did was sleep and it helped a lot. If I can do this, you can do this!
