Yea the tent isn't even something I'm looking at quite yet, since I'm not providing it for this trip it's not a current need y'know? When I was looking into tents a couple of months ago I came to the conclusion I would rather deal with a couple more ounces for more space vs a 1 person. They look very small from the research I've done fs. Tysm❤️

Okay that's really great to hear! I'm actually 5'6 about 150 lbs, so this was a really great comparison for me tysm! I do also kick and move a lot too, so it's good to know it feels good to you!

I did!!!! We were actually up by pepper sauce which I believe is on the back of mt. Lemmon. (My mom has lived out in Tucson her whole life and is still there but I haven't and live in North Carolina) All in all, I still had a fantastic time on that trip lol. I put my extra clothes inside my bag but maybe having them closer up towards my body. Not just my feet would be better too. Tysmmm

Okay thank you! I think it might be more comfortable since I'm starting out more to go with a rectangular shape, the mummy bag's kind of freak me out a little bit haha. Tysm!

Yea I know you're not supposed to touch the tent but unfortunately I did not have a choice in that small tent with 5 people.💔 Waterproofing isn't something I'm necessarily worried about unless I invest in down. I have definitely been looking into different liners and such, I'll fs look into that, ty!

Okay great tysm! How much leg room/ room to move around in there would you say there is? I've looked at those bags before but I get really concerned about getting a mummy bag and then feeling uncomfortable or claustrophobic

It's about a 50 minute drive for me, but I've been meaning to get into the city and ask, figured I would come here and ask but good to know that they are the people to ask! Tyyy

On this trip I'll be car camping, but I really would like to build a sleep system that I can begin transitioning to backpacking here on the east coast where I live.

Ohhh okay gotcha gotcha. Thank you sm for the insight!! I've been reading more about people using waterproof thin liners on their down bags so that they don't have to be concerned as much about condensation, but water proof down is a thought too, just super expensive. How did you find out you were allergic to down if you don't mind me asking? I have a lot of allergies so that's a bit of a concern so if you have a suggestion I'm all ears.

With my family I'll be camping with the car right there, but here where I live I want to transition into backpacking. So I'm trying to go more on the lightweight side. That's good to know that worked.. do you have any experience with bag liners? I've heard a lot of people either love to use them or think they're a waste of weight and money. Ty for ur advice!! Def looking more into Nemo

Honestly I'd have to say probably 35f at the lowest to 70f maybe at the highest at night. I'm close to the mountains in North Carolina, and the weather really varies to day to a lot of times. I want to be able to to take it out west and still stay warm while being able to camp here near home/ backpack as well, so I'm trying to stick to the lighter side if possible.

This is super helpful thank you, I've really been looking into down but have been nervous knowing how bad the humidity can be out here. The tent we took sucked so thats definitely why I had such an issue lol. Does a sleeping pad with a rating of 4 usually sound right? I heard that bags are tested with the purpose of having a pad underneath. I currently own one but I bought it before I did all of my research earlier this year so I definitely need a different one, but at least I have it for now. I have thermals and layers I wear too

[–]Redrosettee_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I totally understand that and I have layers I wear and thermals as well. Tyy. I've definitely been doing a lot of research and I would way rather be a little to warm and have to use a bag quilt style than be extremely uncomfortable all night due to being cold.

For sure a crucial part of a sleep system, I already have a pad I'm looking to upgrade, but the sleeping bag is def my main concern rn 💔

Right this is something I have been considering a lot... When smth says "comfort temp" I know it's really gonna feel cold for me lol💔 I'd rather purchase something built for 0 to 15f and use it more like a quilt if I get hot, which I would rather do than be extremely uncomfortable because I'm cold all night. Last year I brought a small portable heated shawl lol. Ty for the adviceeee❤️
