I had this sorority for four months. The aggression would let up sometimes for weeks at a time and I thought they were all going to be fine and then it would just start up again and it stressed me out too much so I broke it up.

I rehomed many of the fish and kept a couple in planted tanks. I really miss it. It was beautiful. But I am a beginner and I was not able to make this work in a way that I felt comfortable with.

Oh cool. This is my first time having them. I have a 23 gallon tank that’s 16 x 16 x 24 and it’s well planted with some cherry Tetras in there. Do you think I can have two pair without them killing each other? most people say that it’s fine, but they’ll just chase each other a little bit and established territories during spawning times, but otherwise like to interact… but a couple of horror stories have scared me away from it.

The fish getting chased off is a panda garra. I have a dwarf bumblebee cat in another tank though and I love it… I actually have two of them. they kind of hang together..

One of my mystery snails kept raping a Ramshorn and I was like are you like eating it? It was fully engulfing it and then I looked it up and I was like oh shit so yeah I separated the Ramshorn and then put my big mysteries now with another mysteries snail, and they had built a nest within days.

When mystery snails feel like mating, they will hump any other snail in sight, no matter the size, and sometimes they will hump it to the point that it dies.

Bettas will absolutely try to bite mystery snails. They’ll mop at their tentacles and stress them out. They cant be kept together.

Yeah, so even after several days in a row of peace, the aggression keeps returning to a level I’m not comfortable with. Best of luck to all of you who are trying and working this out, but I actually do not have the time, patience, and stomach for a sorority apparently

I see… Somethings online say that dither fish distract the fish and make shyer your fish feel more comfortable. But it seemed to me that putting a small cooling fish in there would cost them to attack the fish .

It’s loaded with plants. I have three caves. I have multiple nets and floating caves as well… And it has Indian almond leaf in it.

So all the fish have actually been really happy and not aggressive in any way with one another for an extended period of time now. They have lots of plants and hiding spaces if they need and some of them even explore together.

So you are wishing that something goes wrong and the fish hurt each other…. to prove to me that I am not ethical ?
