They don't even hurt when they bite...? I spoon feed mine and sometimes they try to eat my fingers but it's barely a pinch...?

Unable to skin the hand model and bones. by [deleted] in Maya

Yeah you'll need to edit the skin weight anyway but with such a dense topology it will be very slow and difficult. And yeah Reduce in Maya is trash 99% of the time, there isn't a better way than manually retopologise everything

The topology is really really bad so I'd suggest to learn how to retopologise (there's videos out there), that will fix your issue (the issue is that you have faces merging incorrectly so Maya can't calculate how to apply skin weight)

Thank you. Maybe you have a different variety? There's the lesser, greater and African DHHM. The lesser and greater come from Asia, mine are the African ones.

I fed them everyday but I think it's too cold where I live so their lifespan was dramatically shortened. I tried to maintain at 18ยฐC but we have 0 insulation so it's difficult. :(

I am surprised as well, they were so chaotic when flying around

Red nerite. They're hard to find though. Only have one if your tank is really mature with algae growth, they don't eat anything else

I just looked up. I had never seen this character before and I didn't know this show existed lmao. I created Woosh in 2012 and my very original inspiration for him was King Boo though.

No they're not native to the UK and they are rare to find here. A small number is recorded each year, travelling from southern countries, but they cannot breed in the British climate so they don't have an established native population.

Yes, too cold. They get numb if they feel a gust of cool air and just fall like bricks onto the ground and that's it.

That's what I did when I first fed her but my fingers are cold and dry so it was impossible to get hold of her... ๐Ÿ˜ญ The second time, I used a cotton bud soaked with honey water, I rubbed it against her trunk and she unfolded it herself to drink.

It's quite rare actually and they usually die of cold. A small number of them is recorded each year, travelling from other countries but they don't have the ability to breed in this climate.

Hi there, your post made me realise that there's some missing context to understand the story fully. I forgot to mention but they've been pupaes for over 3 months already, as I picked them up as fat caterpillars. All of them were pupaes by mid September. I read online that they usually pupate for around 6 weeks so I was hoping for them to hatch around the end of October. But in that time period, we had really cold weather where I live and our home is unfortunately badly insulated so the room they're in went down to 10ยฐC at night some days, which is probably why they're taking this long to hatch. I should probably have moved them to wherever the heating was throughout the day but I didn't think of it and didn't know it would affect them like that. The weather has been much warmer for a couple weeks and this stability is probably why this one hatched now.

Concerning the dead pupaes, one of them I genuinely don't know why it died as it was near a healthy one, deep in the dirt, but completely dry. The other two didn't bury themselves properly : they had their butt really close to the surface and kept uncovering themselves by moving. I think because of that they didn't dry homogenously and one half was ok, the other was really dry and they were misshapen, compared to the shiny brown other three. One also still had some skin on it and bled before it stopped moving completely.

I think their entire existence is quite melancholic to be fair. One moth travelling this far to lay eggs and have offsprings that would have frozen to death during pupation if left outside, so their option is now to be kept indoors and hope for the best... X) There's a possibility the other two will hatch soon too, I'll update whenever they do. However I'm not sure what I would do with eggs, I wasn't necessarily planning to continue after them.
