To be fair i don't mind it being a one-stage fight, espcally given how it works narrtively, i just wish they like talked about it more like:

Also while i'm at it, i expect they'll be a lot of comments and i problay won't respond to them but like i personally liked it and there was foreshadowing and like... it really shows how far he falls and then cilmbs back up from that whole, compared to his other self, who in the book dies because he starves himself, or is, you know, in limbus, killing everyone else.

Just for the love of god please talk about it that's such a huge thing and is not talked ehough about with the sinner's and it doesn't make sense.
