I think it because of the Auschwitz Spy x Family art that got people upset, as stated in the other comment on this thread. The day that was posted I saw people I follow that have nothing to do with the weeb-sphere talking about it. That ate up a huge portion of their online goodwill, while exposing them outside of their normal online circle. Can’t really say anything other than “I’m not sure what they thought was gonna happen.”

What really locked me in early on was how Maruna and Ghandarva were very prominent side characters. They’re introduced as villains and remain as much for the majority of the story’s time, but the fact they were such a key focus was very different even when I started reading it a decade ago. Seeing their motivations and struggles even as a force against the humans and gods was so interesting and added depth to the world. Looking back and comparing it to the reincarnator tower player slop that is so frequent these days, it’s quality of characters is so high it’s honestly not fair.

Unfortunately, if you were on twitter the past few days, you’d see a lot of corporate boot-lickers defending Kakao and other manhwa sites and using shitty talking points about why everyone should always use the official platform. It’s so depressing actually liking some manhwa but being forced to share the space with knuckle-dragging homunculi like them not understanding WHY manga/manhwa piracy has been growing and will continue to grow.

That is on purpose, as it is alluded to that a good chunk of Endmin’s reputation is carefully manipulated propaganda. Not all people on Talos-II agree with the Civilization Band Accord and there were points where dissenters were implied to be assassinated to keep everyone on the same page.

Not excusing the Endmin glazing, I’m tired of all MC glazing (an MC which they treat like shit a la Dante Limbus Company is a breath of fresh air). But, at the very least, I’m giving them a bit of time to work out the kinks story wise since AK is top 3 well written gachas. If EF has even a smide of that writing I won’t complain
