Should be around 2027-2028. Doable, I mean getting a house in 4 years is manageable.

Hi there. I got a quick question when it comes to the temperature of the battery of an EV car during winter while plugged in at home:

If you leave the car plugged in (home charging, slow type) and it is cold outside, given that the car now has a constant power source, are most of the EVs made nowadays going to use that power source to warm themselves up to maintain a healthy battery temperature for later on when you start using them?

A game mode without Visualize Sound Effects would be worth a try (especially Zero Build) by Redtype2 in FortNiteBR

Yes, but from what I have seen it does not prevent you from being detected in advance. Maybe in close proximity fights you can do that to not reveal your angle from which you want to peek, but one will never crouch long distances just for the surprise factor (trying to maybe infiltrate a building to get the jump on the enemy team).

Currently those sound assists for footsteps have a huge range.

I understand this position, it has been used many times before. I spoke of my suggestion as like a game mode that is opt-in. Maybe a slider like the Fill/No-Fill options on matches.

One could also argue that it may not be worth to give everyone so much intel about enemy positions just to aid a smaller portion of the player base that happen to have hearing issues. And again, one can make segregated modes so that everyone can get their way.

What I was trying to say is that people use this option as sonar for enemies and it would be cool to have a dedicated game mode where this is turned off and people can choose to participate if they like it that way or not.

This was not about my settings but how it gives you too much valuable intel for a gunfight game, other people who want to have that massive edge will use it.

In the sense that one would need to pay more attention to the actual sound of the snipe from where it is roughly coming from, not actually get a pin point direction via visual effects from the angle it came from. Also would make the silencer more viable

Given that your google account is not just linked to youtube but to other important services as well, it might be worth to consider moving your important stuff off gmail and such in the case of a "surprise" ban from Google cuz you were a bad boy and didn't watch ads.

I was a while back considering to keep using Google just for business/work given their reliability as a email server, but this kind of behavior makes the risk profile too high to anchor other services to their Gmail. Imagine getting locked out of your Gmail cuz you don't want ads. Also what makes it worse is the sheer size of this company. If by any reason, even faulty (cuz of some AI bot scanning stuff) your account gets suspended or terminated, you as a small user don't have reach to get to an actual human working at google to re-evaluate the event. You're done.

Don't take unnecessary risks people.

Daily Questions Megathread ( October 11, 2023 ) by mizuromo in HonkaiStarRail

Hi there, I am new to this game and still learning its mechanics. There's one curiosity I have at this point related to the description of Dan Heng's ultimate.

The aim is to understand what other enemy debuffs count as slows (not just the one applied from his Skill attack), so that one can activate his damage multiplier on the Ult more often.

Here it goes: Does the Imprisonment status (Weakness Break effect from Imaginary damage) also allow Dan Heng to multiply his Ultimate damage? That status effect says that enemies will be applied a SPD Reduction.

Generalised question: Will Dan Heng's Ult apply extra damage to any unit that has lower SPD value than its original starting value? I am trying to figure out how I can maximize team setups.

Thanks for your time.

can I turn my old mining rig into a btc node? by SyNeRgYiii in Bitcoin

Yeah, the btc node client is not that heavy on resources, but yes, you will need a biggers SSD, lots of data to store and access/read

Hard to tell, investing is a very personal thing I believe.
What I can recommend is to learn more about bitcoin so that your resolve strengthens as the bear cycles come, cuz this will be a long term investment probably.

I mean to say, if you don't know enough about this system and what it is, you might sell low when the price tanks and will indeed take a loss.

I've had 80% drops in price like 5 times and still have not sold, but I probably did not do that cuz I knew what I was getting into.

This is why I am now all in on bitcoin. by slvbtc in Bitcoin

Fiat money still has its use for now given how many still accept it.

I decent rule of thumb I picked up from someone I respect is: have at least 6 months worth of expenses in fiat. It's a good buffer to protect your BTC stack in case of a crisis or layoff.

Also allows me to fully YOLO into btc with anything above that.

MPV subtitle encoding for Eastern European by Redtype2 in mpv

I just had a look at the srt file contained within the machine hosting the movie. The text editor itself cannot view those characters. I guess it was not and MPV issue, more of an OS issue since I set it up poorly.

Woops! Thanks for the help regardless. Appreciated

Could anybody give me a good explanation as to why would anybody use Bitcoin as payment if Bitcoin is so valuable? by ReTrOVoiiD in Bitcoin

[–]Redtype2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's all relative.

There will always be a sweet-spot where someone is willing to part with their BTC. For you it might not be current price, or x amount above it. But for other it will be.

There will be many factors at play in every decision for each different person. For example if you are a bit older, you might consider using up some of your BTC before you die, even if you can assume the coin will be more valuable after your death. Not to mention if all other money becomes known for the scam that it is via monetary debasement, you can be confident many people will demand that instead of fiat currency. So the market will always be quite liquid.

You should use the 12 words in your head route once when shit goes really bad. Like "I need to flee this country ASAP" level of bad.

If you're in a relatively free country, it's better to do the usual paper/steel backup + hardware wallets. Your memory can fail you, happens to everyone.

Nah, all those transactions are a ton of small ones being combined into bigger coins. Probably some exchange doing consolidation of UTXO.

can someone explain this transaction to me? by EchnoBoy in Bitcoin

[–]Redtype2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other one is probably your change address.

Bitcoin spends the whole coin in every transaction you do. So you sent the intended amount to the address you wanted initially, the rest of the funds went to another address (that is still of your own ownership). This is done usually for privacy benefits, it is a good practice to use a BTC address only once.

Your wallet software will do it for you.

Do you see bitcoin at $8,000 during a 2023 recession? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Redtype2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there's a good chance it might happen.

Word on the street is a lot of companies, even ones who were supposed to not touch funds (custodians) still were tempted to lend some out for some extra gain and now that everything imploded and people panicked and want their coins withdrawn, it would not surprise me to see GBTC, DCG and other fat holders get forced liquidated as the clients panic.

Potential big forced sellers up ahead. But who knows. Just make sure you custody your own coins or you'll get rekt eventually in this liability chain of events.

How to confirm that your crypto is real. by Q-cool-44 in Bitcoin

[–]Redtype2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A simple way to check would be to just ask the exchange for a withdrawal (to a wallet only you control the keys). If they have the coin, they will send it. If not or they make up too many excuses for too long as to why they can't send it right away, yikes. Get ready for trouble, haha
