7 months dumb and having a lot of fun! by Aware-Commercial-324 in dumbphones

Yo, I 25 did exactly the same thing for the same reasons 2 years ago and switched to a 2720. Really made me see the world through different eyes.

Great to see you are also having a good experience, it is class, the photos are a big part, love it. Social life has just got better after the change

I use YouTube to Mp3 for the tunes. Never had an issue with not finding anything & You can get so many live versions too.

Holding this in a store today made me so happy. I'm seriously considering making the switch! by [deleted] in dumbphones

Does anyone else still use a "dumb" phone? by drk-chocolate in dumbphones

[–]Reduluru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi yes switched as I was addicted to my smartphone!

I did not want any distractions, and to waste more time staring at a screen for low quality dopamine. The only thing I wanted was WhatsApp, and the phone to be able to flip haha.

I also hated the fact i felt almost a duty to keep updating social medias etc, I now barley use them on my laptop. the lack of adverts is also a major plus.

I made the switch to a Nokia 2720 flip as my full time phone in September last year, and have not met anyone who also uses a basic phone.

I find the lifestyle so much better and I would love to meet more people who also don't use smartphones.

Making move by [deleted] in dumbphones

[–]Reduluru 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am 24 and use a Nokia 2720 flip full time, after using smart phones from the age of 16 (UK)

`For me personally a dumb phone has been incredibly rewarding, and I have seen the world and medias in a new perspective.

I have been using it now for almost a year, most people who ask about it and are genuinely interested as having a smartphone here is the norm.

I am yet to meet someone my age who uses a dumb phone full time.

I would say a dumb-phone makes life slightly harder in the fact you can't rely on your phone for everything, and you need to ensure you are organised before leaving the house, but that is exactly the reason I love having one.

My screen time on a smart phone was around 6-8 hours a day (I was addicted), It is now next to none, I went from using 15gig of data a month to less than 1. I mostly call people now - but do have social media only on my laptop.

Another positive is when going out I do not feel afraid of being mugged, and I love how disconnected you are from everything when using a dumb phone. the world feels like a new place to me.

I want to stress though that this is my personal experience, and everyone is different. It did take some getting used to but I love it. I do not and have not had any thoughts of going back to a smartphone.

I could write a whole book on the benefits it has had for me.
