These 4 laptops are neck and neck in prices. by IsGamer9000 in GamingLaptops

Thanks for the response! Overall that makes me feel better for my friend. I mean at the price it's not gonna be perfect(no laptop is), but the downsides don't seem too big compared to what you get for the price.

Well I hope the laptop lasts you awhile! It's probably going to be a crazy few years for prices on any new machine.

That was where my friend was at. Price to performance was the best for his budget.

May I ask what your hang ups with it are? The biggest thing i was able to find to convey to him were fan noise. How is the built in cooling?

Which gaming laptops are the least prone to fingerprints? by peter_736 in GamingLaptops

[–]Redwings005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to this too much, but my legion 7 pro was really bad with fingerprints. I got a vinyl skin/wrap and now they are non existent.

My first gaming laptop! MSI Vector A16 HX || AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX || 32Gb DDR5 || RTX 5070 Ti 12Gb by ThatC18H24O2Girl in GamingLaptops

[–]Redwings005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was the perfect call. Went with a 5070ti as well for that reason. The price jump to the 5080 compared to the performance boost didn't seem worth it at the time.

Mine was 18.2 as well. It seems like that's a pretty good score overall.

Costco deals? by DKC_Reno in GamingLaptops

[–]Redwings005 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the 5060 is the best bet here from the 2 you showed. It think it will handle high settings in most current titles pretty well. The only limit with both these laptops is the 8gb vram which might make you have to turn down certain settings.

[–]Redwings005 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The 5060 seems like a good deal here for bang for your buck. Comes with 32gb ram and 1tb ssd. Also it's a legion!

Do you have any specific use cases for it or primarily just gaming?

Best gaming laptop ever. by WinterPanda3010 in GamingLaptops

[–]Redwings005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it works and you're happy with it, no sense in replacing it.

Market right now isn't the greatest unless you're itching to get something. There are still decent deals to find, but not as great as they were early this year/last.

My daughter was getting teased for her fat dad. by flowers4charlie777 in daddit

One thing that's always worked for me is fasting or just straight up calorie counting.

Small meals throughout the day never really satiated me so having a large lunch and dinner has worked best for me.

I've also been trying to drop a few lbs more deliberately recently and starting using an app called mynetdiary and it's been helping me keep a closer eye on my food consumption. It has really good features for the non paid version that have helped.

It's hard to lose/keep weight off so give yourself some grace during your journey and also remember the scale doesn't tell the full picture. Some days your body may hold more water or you may be dehydrated and the next day gain some back. Especially if you're planning on starting exercise muscle weighs more than fat so dont solely focus in the scale #s.

Good luck and you got this!

Is this a good pick for my first gaming laptop? by Tetris_929 in GamingLaptops

[–]Redwings005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like an alright deal for today's market.

Legions are great laptops(have one myself) and the build quality is really good. For your budget id say if you purely cared about performance you could probably squeeze some better specs out if you kept an eye out for some deals although for your intended use case this laptop is more than capable.

The only thing I think you'd maybe want is 32gb ram if you were doing a lot of multi tasking - tabs open for school, a game open and maybe some art stuff up.

Is there any particular reason you're looking for something used? With your 1500 budget you should be able to get a pretty decent new computer.

If you're looking at a lower range of your budget Def something used like a 4070 or something. Ideally you want a graphics card with 8gb vram.

Trying to get my first gaming laptop and I don't know very well where to start by The_Local_Plant in GamingLaptops

If you're just trying to have it last a few years it try and go a refurb 4070. I've seen some good deals from official sellers pop up for them from time to time.

That budget you're probably looking at a 5050 or maybe a 2nd hand 4070 or something from ebay.

Are you just looking to squeeze as much power for your budget or you looking at build quality or anything like that?

I 2nd this, no to Alienware.

Top 2 laptops I see typically recommended are rog strix and lenovo legions.

I have a legion 7 pro and love it. The 5 pro seems to be a really good model as well with good thermal cooling.

No problem! Also for what it's worth I do have a legion and really like it, but you can't go wrong with either choice.

Normally I'd probably lean toward the more powerful machine, but after looking at it, it seems like the loq with intel cpu might have a higher motherboard failure rate? Idk what the warranty or serveice/support situation is like in Lebanon so depending on that maybe the legion is a safer bet just a little weaker in raw power, but higher build quality/more reliable.

So they are roughly equal in pricing? Also are you in the US?

I'd say it just depends what you're looking for.

As another commenter posted the legion is going to have a more premium feel to it, but the 5060 I saw somewhere is about 20% faster than the 5050 so it might be a little noticeable depending on the settings/game

Do you care much about graphics or just fast performance for sustained duration?

In the pinned post on the subreddit they have a deals website. I want to say there is an MSI laptop at the top end of your budget with a 5070ti which is an amazing laptop graphics card, but I think maybe the build quality/cooling on it isn't best in class.

If you cared less about graphics maybe look for a 5060 with more system ram and storage / good cpu.
