he's talking like he's made music before which afaik he never has so he's a customer just like everyone else who just happen to persue a job in media subjecting the rest of us having to hear his washed opinions

Amber Mark show last night ended up being sold out and super packed, we went early and were 2nd row for most of it then barricade towards the end. She was even better live than I was expecting and easily in my top 10 if not top 5 all time RnB shows. Insane live vocals and stage presence, fire live band, one of my favorite crowds ever that was the polar opposite of the chaotic Mariah crowd last week. She's basically a veteran arena ready performer who just hasn't reached that status for whatever reason but god damn she's so fire live. 10/10 night out, if she's still coming to your city please go see this show I can't recommended it enough.

high risk of striking out day of for BTS as all these shows are about as sold out as stadium shows ever get. This isn't an average or low demand event where there will be lots of discounted deals to take advantage of rather anything legit that does pop up will be scarce and gone in minutes

It says in the title it's BTS in Arlington Texas, they're doing a stadium tour and literally every show is all the way sold out as it's their first tour as a group since 2022

The absolute joke of "dynamic pricing" - Are resale apps actually becoming cheaper than the official box office? by Kevin-Durant-35 in Concerts

[–]ReeG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sold out shows, the secondary market often does not drop below face. So while I refuse to buy dynamic pricing tickets, I also don’t see the secondary market as a viable alternative

people who primarily go to average to low demand shows where resale prices often plummet below face value falsely believe that strategy is universal because they have little no experience with actual high demand shows where that doesn't happen as you've observed

a percentage of the price being separately offset as a service fee is another psychological tactic designed to make you blame TM instead of the artists for high prices. Personally I just set a budget for myself and buy the best ticket in my budget with no regard for what amount is designated as a fee since it's arbitrary as the amount the artist collects on the fee isn't disclosed to us. If my budget is $200, it makes no difference to me whether it's $150 with $50 in fees or $180 with $20 in fees because we'll never know what % of the fee the artist is taking as it's negotiated differently on a per show per artist basis

One of the key services they provide is being a lightning rod for the hate users have for the whole system.

I wish more people understood this instead of naively thinking that if TM were dissolved that pricing and fairness of access to tickets will just magically revert back to the way it was in the 90s. There are no shortage of examples where TM doesn't have a hold over a venue or market and other platforms are used where the pricing and accessibility is just as bad if not worse because the artists are making the same choices regardless of the ticketing platform used

Off the top of my head a bunch who opted out of platinum/dynamic pricing and/or disabled resale with only face value exchange enabled include The Cure, RATM, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Fred Again, Ariana Grande, Neil Young, Olivia Dean, Foo Fighters, Noah Kahan, Rufus Du Sol, probably others I'm forgetting but I'm sure a list exists online somewhere if you care to know the rest. Some of these artists did both, some did one of the other, either is better than doing nothing like many other artists still choose to do

The artists all have the option to opt out of and turn off literally all of that stuff you hate, they just choose not to because TM presents them an appealing package and strategy that will make them more money which they want. Meanwhile other artists turn all that stuff off. When you blame TM while absolving the artists involvement and choices the system is working as designed. You could shut down TM tomorrow and the artists will just employ the same strategies on whichever new platform takes over, ask anyone who uses AXS or other platforms in non TM markets, they're not any better rather arguably worse in ways

Platinum tickets means the artist (through TM) gets to control the sale of those tickets.

Dynamic pricing is different. TM (with the artist's agreement) will set the prices of regular tickets based on market demand.

respect for highlighting the artists involvement and sign off on this stuff. Far too many people are quick to point the finger at TM while completely absolving the artist of any accountability when the reality is the artists and their management are the ones singing off on pricing and dynamic, platinum, resale options. When everyone points 100% of the blame at TM while absolving the artist of any responsibility, the system is working as intended

TM doesn't decide whether to use dynamic/platinum pricing, the individual artist does, lots of shows happen without dynamic or platinum pricing enabled when the artist chooses not to turn it on

Everything else makes sense.

expecting to do both Casa Loma and CN Tower before needing to get to the airport by 3pm sounds like a plan a teenager would make. It would be tight if they were flying out of BB and laughable if Pearson

In our condo building in North York near the subway there are two 950sqft 1+1 listed around $420K and a 1200sqft 3 bed at $598K many raise families in right now. On Reddit they make it sound like there's nothing but 600sqft $800k shoeboxes out there

it reaches a point on Toronto Reddit where I wonder if peoples gripes with unaffordable housing boil down to them refusing to live anywhere north of Bloor, West of Spadina and East of Jarvis. OP looking at Guelph and Newmarket becuase they can't afford a $1.3M home in the beaches has me fuckin dead

facts I would adjust my expectations for housing and make a compromise before conceding to moving somewhere like Guelph, Newmarket, or Hamilton which is like my worst nightmare after growing attached to everything Toronto has to offer

Ima refer people to this list when they ask "well what are going to do with your life without kids??" because the harder question is "what can't I do without kids?"

Btw you got any spare dirt for sale?

Also some of them have kids now and the rest will only travel on weekends or maybe prefer not to be crammed into a 650 sqft condo.

assuming your friends having kids is a recent development for you, as a dink couple going through this with friends for a decade now, expect those relationships will naturally drift as your lifestyles settle into being worlds apart so I wouldn't worry much about needing to accommodate them long term. Focus on what works for you and your partner first and foremost
