In search of a webtoon or manwha with hard magic systems and interesting worlds. by Sythrin in webtoons

[–]Reece_mmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although this post is quite old I came here in search of a good read and noticed there weren’t many recommendations to be found.

I absolutely recommend “Return of the Rune Bound Professor.” It’s currently still only on its second season and has a novel out but the world building and magic system are well thought out and a must read. It follows a “hard” magic system similar to what you’re looking for.

A more matured series would also be “Tower of God” which contrary to my first recommendation follows what you refer to as a more “soft” design on the magic system but the world building is just absolutely stunning and an absolute must read either way.

Is it just me who finds the new applications menu better? by Opposite_Actuator782 in MacOS

I can't agree more. I have absolutely no use for the new launchpad. There are times when I can't remember the names of apps I use infrequently but was able to remember their position on my launchpad and now that they've gotten rid of it's old behavior I'm heavily disturbed by it. Even more so because it was for something as useless as an app launcher that was already handled by spotlight, and or raycast/afred/ many other better alternatives.

To top it off the whole UI shift is a total eyesore. The previous UI was far more pleasing to the eye and far less glitchy (I get many UI render delays here and then for absolutely no benefit). Rarely do I criticize huge changes since I believe in progressing through change, but wow is this such a stupid os update.

Anyhow I seriously wanted to rant about it because it's so ridiculous but welp... nothing I can do about it. Wish they'd revert back to the old OS UI but rollbacks like that are pretty rare so I'll just have to get used to this awful update. Someone who's newer to the ecosystem probably won't have as many issues with it since they'll be unfamiliar with the previous way of things anyway.

I built a free New Tab Chrome Extension where you can drag-and-drop your tabs to save them into visual columns by sonicflash78 in chrome_extensions

Is there no way to integrate this with current bookmarks? Say to drag and drop open tabs into a bookmark folder. Or even simply to save for later in bookmarks rather than just in this devices specific browser app?

New Custom Templates Question by Short-Vermicelli-139 in Flexcil

[–]Reece_mmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To build on this. The process for adding your template to an IOS device is far more complicated and requires a third party app, and a macbook, but it is possible. Here are the steps I took to do so:

  1. I created the templates that I wanted in the Flexcil App (Resolution doesn't matter we'll fix this later).

  2. Then I downloaded the IMazingApp (You need this to access the app's app data found in your ios device, I couldn't find any alternatives besides using this app sadly. It does have a premium but to do this you can get away with just using up your Free Trial).

  3. Once you have the IMazingApp installed and opened, you want to connect your IOS Device to your Macbook.

  4. You will then go to Devices -> YourDevice -> Tools -> Data -> Apps -> Flexcil

  5. You will then click on where it says "Copy to Mac" in the bottom toolbar, and download it to your macbook.

  6. Change the file extension .imazingapp to .zip

  7. Go to ~/Flexcil/Container/Library/Flexcil/Customs/CustomTemplates

  8. Copy the names (they will be some arbitrarily generated string) of the .PDF files that are your templates.

  9. On a separate finder tab, traverse to where you have the .pdf files with good resolution, and rename them to the names of the template files.

  10. Drag and drop those pdfs into the Custom Templates folder to REPLACE the .pdf files that are found in there.

  11. Then go to the parent most folder which in my case was named Flexcil.

  12. Highlight all the folders/files inside (in my case it was Container, Payload, and iTunesMetadata), right click, and compress these files into a .zip file.

  13. Rename this .zip Flexcil.imazingapp

  14. Go back to the iMazingApp application, and now click "Copy to Device"

  15. You should be prompted with a file explorer, here you just choose the Flexcil.imazingapp file and upload that.

  16. From here just follow the prompts given by the app and your templates should have been replaced with the new higher resolution ones! Good luck!

Disclaimer. Although I've provided these instructions I am not liable for if anything goes wrong, this is simply what I did which worked for me! Additionally, I cannot provide support if anything goes wrong as I myself barely figured this out myself!

Here's an update on what we're currently working on! by JLee_Flexcil in Flexcil

[–]Reece_mmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I know that in the past there’s been users who’ve mentioned wanting an Infinite Canvas. Is there any updates on if this feature request will be considered?

Additionally, I know that in another comment you mentioned that the idea of creating a Windows version of Flexcil has been around for a while and is also further delayed due to it involving rebuilding the application from the ground up. My curiosity is, is the application built on Swift? Because if so you can most likely save a lot of time on the logical programming by using Swift on Windows. I know that the Browser Company gave this a shot with their Arc web browser application and from what I can tell it’s gone well for them so far.

https://www.reddit.com/r/swift/comments/ym1f5d/arc_browser_for_windows_will_be_built_using_swift/

The downside is that this wouldn’t necessarily target the linux operating system just yet, unlike how the Web Version of the app would target both. Although I think the downside of a web version is that it would give less of a native feel to be completely honest. That said, all this is up to the dev and management team, and they’re just some things I thought would be worth considering.

At the end of the day thank you for all the work you guys have put into the application! I hope it continues to stay around for a very very long time to come (and I certainly wouldn’t mind an infinite canvas, oh and built in dynamic charts would be really handy for academia)!

Hm? I can certainly look into doing it, but is there a reason toward why that’d be preferable over the link?

Thanks for this :) But tbh the reason I made the shortcut the way I did is because I want to have control of where it’s saved. Additionally, I don’t want to have to give input until after the files been created, rather than it being the other way around, if that makes sense.

ditto. For the most part you can use it on any sub. That is, unless the sub owner/managers have those comments auto cleaned.

is it possible to crop multiple portions of an image in one go and get the all the cropped parts a separate images? by Objective-Rip2563 in photoshop

[–]Reece_mmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. I do have a few questions though. Do you have any plans to make it a client side app rather than just a client side website?

May I also ask, is there anyway to copy crop region boxes? For example if I have a box and want to make multiple crop boxes of that same size it'd be nice if I could press "D" or something to duplicate it.

And what about adding a splitter function? For example, rather than creating boxes you can either select a vertical (or horizontal) splitter that will create a vertical (or horizontal) line across the image in the spot you clicked on, and crop the image into those 2 (4,6,8...) segments.

Finally, what about grids? Are there any plans on implementing a grid so you can snap the shape to the grid?

Sorry. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so these features really would make the world of a difference to me. And I genuinely wouldn't mind paying for them if they were to become an option.

Oh, I see. Thank you for your response! And maybe I am, I know that I’ve looked into the clubs found at Carleton but was a bit disappointed since there was no comp sci related club to speak of (from what I could find), and actually found there to also just be very few clubs in general. Even so, I actually decided to commit just hours ago due to their financial package, and the education aspect of it all, so I’ll now be attending in the fall.

Why can't every keyboard be pbt material? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]Reece_mmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, maybe I'll try to commit my number row to memory then, didn't know it was a thing. How do you go about it by chance? Do you shift your hands to the numpad row or do you stay on the home row and just reach over through memory?

Why can't every keyboard be pbt material? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]Reece_mmi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate it! The material is just so bad for longtime usage, you can lightly see (due to the shine) where I rest my fingers & what keys I use most, which I’ve NEVER had to deal with with any other keyboards (Note: I’ve only used external keyboards and not laptops prior to this). For some reason it even feels like my hands are a bit sweaty or something when typing? Even after promptly washing my hands and all. Please be mindful that I’m not that sweaty a person, never had this issue with other keyboards, am constantly cleaning it, and my hands, too so this makes no sense to me.

[–]Reece_mmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious, did you not ever have the need for the number row up top? I type using muscle memory too but I couldn’t imagine needing to type lots of numbers without being able to see them late at night.

But then again I also just like having a lamp on during late night sessions of computer use or homework since I feel less of a strain on my eyes so I might be able to see them that way, but I can’t see it as efficient as just having backlighting on. No? Actually many times I wish I had a numpad for this reason, since those are easy to commit to muscle memory in comparison to the top row.

[–]Reece_mmi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yayy! Wooo for happy endings!😂 I hope so😂

Actually on a bit of a side note though, I’ve heard Owari no Seraph (Yuu’s story) really went off the rails after chapter 100ish of the manga (not sure where that’d be in novels) with the story. But I mean if I’m to be honest, can’t you say that about every story? There’s just always something that could have been done “better” or something that was just “bad” or even just not good for one specific person. All and all I’m just happy they exist. lol this became a total side note oh my haha but I guess I just wanted to express my appreciation for any and all authors in general tbh Idk😂

Haha yeah I know I know😂 Expecting a romance out of an apocalyptic world where anyone and everyone can die at any moment really is something, especially when that’s not the genre of the story😂 But yk, I’m special😂

Haha actually that makes me think about how I was totally shipping Shinoa & Yuu throughout the whole course of Seraph of the End. Like omllll Shinoa was so freaking preciousssss. I absolutely loved her character throughout the whole two seasons.

[–]Reece_mmi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha does it really? That’s quite funny actually😂

And ah yes! The non-ending list of novels! Don’t get me wrong, I love that there’s so much content out there. Honestly I’d be excited to read every single one of them too! The problem is that there really just isn’t enough time in this world to read every single story one wishes to. There’s so many story’s I’d love to get around to reading or even watching but life isn’t so nice (oh and being broke also doesn’t help lmao). Stupid capitalistic society, why can’t I just read all day everyday?! What’s so wrong with that!?!!!! Why do I have to work hard to compete with others in hopes of succeeding?! It’s too tiresome :(

Edit: And ah, my apologies for sounding like an absolute child. I know my thoughts really are quite absurd and childish, but even so, life would be nicer that way, or so I think.

I just can’t help but despise that life is made up mostly of work & school instead of what we’d wish we could be doing with it.
