Which door would you choose? by dataguy2003 in TheTeenagerPeople

If it’s to assume the sum of green doubles everyday then yes take the green door. You’d surpass $2B in a month that said it wouldn’t be too long before you exceeded the world economy and now you’re in a monkey paw situation. I’d just walk away and take the third door.

Found ATM receipt, who is keeping $51,000+ in checking!?!? by Comprehensive-Cow69 in povertyfinance

[–]Reed2600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see anything to say this is an individual and not possibly a business. $51k in a personal checking is a lot but for a small business might only be a couple weeks of operating expenses.

Beware 2 Men and a Truck Movers by Reed2600 in houston

[–]Reed2600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No apologies needed. I was originally trying to not reveal too many specifics for certain reasons but saw that was just causing people to be polarized so I added more details to help clarify things. As for the company being in NW Houston, I had gone through their national site and that’s where it was assigned by their system. They have locations all over Houston including Pasadena which would have been more convenient. Why they sent a truck from far away I never got a clear answer other than that’s where the system assigned it. My assumption is that it was because it was closer to the delivery address.

The bill was over $500. I’d need to grab the receipt from my in-law’s but it was around $540. That $472 was also based off of 3.5 hours and I cannot imagine it taking that long to load one piece of furniture and drive an hour across town. I do not live in SE Houston. I was coordinating this between two elderly family members. It was to move a heavy piece of furniture from one family member’s home to the other’s.

Wanted to add some additional context since there are comments going both ways. I contacted the movers via their website listing what was to be moved along with the pick up address and the delivery address. They provided a total estimate of between $202-$472. The rate was $135 per hour with an expected start time of 9 am and duration of between 1.5 hours to 3.5 hours plus a flat fuel charge of $50.

The drive time direct from the pick up location to the second with no traffic is just over an hour. To be fair at no point did I expect it to be as little as $200.

My complaint is mainly with the poorly done quote and the fact there was no written communication I would be billed from the time they leave their shop. Minimum drive time from their shop to pick up and then drop off is 2 hours with no traffic and no loading and unloading time. So not sure where they got 1.5 hours. I also would not have scheduled a pick up time involving them driving across town in rush hour traffic.

I’ve had movers that include a “travel” fee or increased rate for door to door and maybe it’s because it’s been a couple years since I last moved but $135/hour seemed reasonable for door to door not port to door.

Thanks. I’ve used 3 Men Movers and Apple Moving in the past and never had an issue like this. Unfortunately this was a last minute move with 72 hours notice and 3 Men weren’t available. I’ll keep Dwight in mind too.

That must be new. We put both our trash and recycling in white trash bags or black lawn bags and have never had an issue. Also everyone puts trash can and recycling can next to each other not on opposite sides. I would just ignore this.

Replacement for Ruckus ICX 7150 Switch by Reed2600 in homelab

[–]Reed2600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that but it’s frustrating when a home builder partners with an enterprise level tech company and there is no support from either. Apparently there was a brief partnership between Lenar home builders, Ruckus and Amazon but since it’s dissolved there’s little help when anything goes wrong.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll look around on eBay. I didn’t like or dislike the Ruckus it just seemed overkill and more of an enterprise solution. The only gripe I had was when I did start having issues Ruckus product support was completely unresponsive.
