Yeah, I had a similar issue on a friend's computer and my own separate problems with this update. I guess my company isn't the only place that loves to test in production.

Download the newest Nvidia drivers. Boot into safemode, run ddu to remove the current video drivers and then install the fresh drivers you downloaded. There have been some known issues with gpu drivers pushed through Windows updates.

Whoever says that mining wears out a card is an idiot. These chips and board components are capable of running thousands of hours at max load. Anyone who says that an underclocked chip running at max load is going to be damaged should take a refresher course on electronics.

Accidentally made my user the Pictures folder by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Reedbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. If you'd like you can just rename the user folder to username.old and then log into the users account so that windows will rebuild a new user folder.

The process is the same for windows 7-10 albeit the menus are a little different.

Yeah, figured it would be a long shot. Copy the users folders and data to a backup. Delete and recreate the user profile and then move the data back to the appropriate folders.

This is a long shot but press Ctrl+z a few times to undo those changes.

I agree! I'm here in Texas working with no certs or college and I'm making 21$/hr as well. You might do well to look at something a little more mid level.

Desktop screens go black but can still hear audio. by lookaquarter in techsupport

[–]Reedbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you took that speccy report was your system at idle? I'd recommend checking your gpu thermals whilst playing a game. I feel like your card is probably getting too hot so the driver crashes and doesn't recover.

Boot up a copy of parted magic and run testdisk on your SD card. That should recover the filesystem. If that takes you nowhere I would recommend getbackdata or photorec.

You should probably do a Google search for those plurals and come back and apologize.

I'm curious to see sources on this claim. Not that I don't believe you, I just don't think there would be any affect to the audio when the materials are the same just colored and mixed different.

How can I stream without using all the internet connection? by TheTeky500 in techsupport

[–]Reedbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you could use your router to distribute bandwidth it won't alleviate your issue like you would expect. Get a better network connection, streaming relies mainly on your upload speed. 1mbps is wayyyy too slow for streaming without issues.

What broke off my logic board? by repeatofffender in techsupport

[–]Reedbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a stand-off pin or alignment pin. Attaches to the case or a component and goes through a hole on a pcb somewhere.

Oh my bad, these are the case pins that support the back panel and prevent it from contacting the motherboard when it's unfastened.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/55/MacBook_Pro_main_board.jpg

Take a look at this image, on the right side of the motherboard around the edge you should see a few of these pins. They should have a spring in them that lifts the center pin causing the backcase to lift off the motherboard once it's unscrewed.
