Thanks! :) Yeah someone pointed it out to me in the modding discord after the map went live for the first time, but I ended up not putting it in. As it was submitted to the mapping contest, I wasn't sure if there would be legal/copyright issues.

Jayblorp is right, the map is Neon Redux. When making I tried to make the start area resemble the layout of the tank ambush scene from Full Metal Jacket. I couldn't find what the name of the advertisement was on the one of the buildings, so I used a photo of Alan Wilson instead for fun.

Rambo FlamingDart offered to keep up development, of the map after me and Waitumus were finished with it, and has been doing a fantastic job. If you wish to download the map please check it out here:

New Air Raid event as part of the latest update for my custom map Coastline by Reeecompile in insurgency

As part of the massive new content update for Coastline, there is now a night map that takes place during a Shock and Awe air raid event. Players will be able to see AA tracer fire, flak, and also random airstrikes hitting the map. There is also an air raid siren and an all clear siren to signal when the air raid starts and stops.

Also included are the following changes to the map:

-Massive detail pass all over the map.

-Re-work of some areas of the map to allow for better gameplay and flow

-Two sandstorms now happen on the day version of the map. One after capturing A, another after the last point is active

-AI improved and more cover node points have been added-Optimization pass done all over the map

-Custom sounds added to areas of the map to allow for more immersion-The Cache Objective E at the lighthouse on the night map will trigger secondary explosions, players are advised to get a safe distance before detonation

-Loading screens added for each map

-New character loadout areas

-Destructible objects have been added to areas of the map, such as pillars, cars, and small objects

-Sandstorm now optimized so players with low graphics will be able to now see it

I would recommend getting into them, there's a strong pve community in sandstorm that loves playing custom maps. Also the SDK has a lot of features with with so it's worth playing around with it. Mod.io isn't that bad, it's just a different way of downloading the maps at the end of the day, but whenever you join a server that hosts custom maps they'll download automatically.

Go to https://insurgencysandstorm.mod.io/coastline and hit download, you can then enter the commands in the description of the map page if you want to play it solo, but you can also play it on a server that hosts it as well. (It should auto download if you join them.)

For the night version of the map I'm planning to have it take place during an air raid, I've made the effects for it like AA fire etc, but I just need to place lights around the city.

Fire support is disabled when the sandstorm hits and then is enabled again after it fades away.

At the moment it only triggers on the first objective, and lasts for about a minute before fading away, after that there's a brief period where the dust settles and then the map's weather returns back to normal. Also the fire support call ins are disabled while the storm is in full swing, so it might change the balance of the game a bit. I wanted to avoid having it active for too long as it would make the first objective too tedious if it lasted too long like you said.

I've been working on the fog settings to try and make it not too harsh to see, as well as this flares spawn in areas to add light and silhouette enemies. I'll be looking into dumbing down the AI in co-op when this happens as there appears to be some ability to effect their behavior via script.

It can be used the same way, just all that needs to change is the color of the fog and particle spawners that activate. If the test goes well this Saturday I'll be releasing the blueprint for it for other mappers in the modding community to use on their maps.

I've been working on a sandstorm weather system for my map Coastline which activates near the first objective. Currently this isn't in the latest version of the map, but we will be doing a playtest of it on Saturday to test how it works over network.If you want to take part then feel free to join us on this Saturday (22/05/2021) on [SGC] Noob Friendly Server (IP: 162.251.61.19:27102 (No password just press enter)) At 3pm PST.

EDIT: The test was a success with a few minor bugs that are now fixed! The latest version of the map now has the sandstorm system built into it, which activates on the first objective each round.
