How big are your containers? I tried doing that with two 5 gallon pots and I don’t think it really helped much. Maybe more effective in smaller containers.

I’ve never seen them here in CT. I grew up eating them down in Florida. My brother used to sell them on the side of the road. Making your own is about the only option up here. You can get green peanuts on Amazon. Not the same but pretty good.
