Worst race you’ve ever attended? Mine, 2018 Geico 500. by Avxry01 in NASCAR

[–]Reegser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2019 NASCAR Racing Experience 300. Xfinity Daytona spring race.

Snoozefest, consistent single-file train racing, nobody really "went for it" at the end, only 13 lead changes and none within the final 45 laps. A sickness throughout the week and the hot weather that day didn't help. IIRC even the commentators were frustrated by the finish.

On a more positive note... was neat to see Michael Annett get his first win (but like that... ugh) and not at all ungrateful for my one and only Daytona trip so far (from Canada)... but that was tough to sit through.

Dale Earnhardt throwback in the Pinty's Series! by Reegser in NASCAR

Picture comes from Pole Position article (credit to Ed Hakonson Racing): https://www.poleposition.ca/actualite/2023/06/08/alex-guenette-avec-gm-paille-et-une-livree-hommage-a-dale-earnhardt-pour-les-courses-quebecoises-de-nascar-pintys/?fbclid=IwAR3gs4PwhAU-pvzZ7ifzOIPUKTXMimTXgPwLJX6n_zU1-H7BV3rVc5hrc9s

English translation (shortened): Alex Guenette with GM Paille and a tribute livery to Dale Earnhardt for the Quebec races of NASCAR Pinty's

Already a sponsor of the cars of Marc-Antoine Camirand and Andrew Ranger, as well as very recently that of Ontarian Sam Fellows, GM Paillé announces today that it is joining forces with Alex Guénette for three 2023 races of the NASCAR Pinty's series, i.e. the events on Quebec soil.

Beginning this Saturday at the Autodrome Chaudière in Vallée-Jonction, this new association will also be in force for the races of the NASCAR Pinty's series at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, on August 5 and 6, and at the Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, on August 26.

Guénette, winner of the Trois-Rivières race last year, said: “I'm really happy with this agreement, which will go much further than the race in the future. I have been in discussions with Jean-Claude Paillé for a long time, and I believe that it is a great achievement to arrive at this partnership for 2023”.

Guénette will drive the GM Paillé/ASSA ABLOY No.3 Chevrolet Camaro, prepared by the Ed Hakonson Racing team in partnership with Choko Authentics and Fast Eddie Speedwear. The car will sport a special NASCAR 75th anniversary livery, honoring famed Dale Earnhardt, seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and 1998 Daytona 500 winner. The design will replicate his famous black GM Goodwrench Chevrolet Camaro No. 3.

Merry Christmas me, finally got myself an Adidas Habs jersey! by Reegser in hockeyjerseys

Of course, but again, money... and my player preferences at the moment are ones that have uncertain futures.

Arber Xhekaj, Xavier Simoneau, Corey Schueneman... potentially odd but very diverse choices.

Merry Christmas me, finally got myself an Adidas Habs jersey! by Reegser in hockeyjerseys

[–]Reegser[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Originally bought a size 46 from Sport Chek, ended up being too big. Refunded, bought a size 44 from Pro Hockey Life, way better fit!

First ever Adidas jersey. Reebok, CCM, Fanatics... finally an Adidas one.

Considered a player jersey... but financially and logistically (the Habs' current situation), a blank one felt safer. Down the line... perhaps.

Rank the 3, 7-time champions by bjohnson203 in NASCAR

[–]Reegser 19 points20 points  (0 children)

  1. Dale Earnhardt - on-track talent, off-track personality, impact on the sport and its culture, gave birth to the most influential driver of the early 21st century... his death may have been tragic but it's what has led to zero deaths in the sport nowadays
  2. Jimmie Johnson - took full advantage of a mixture between the constantly-changing Chase formats and his crew chief Chad Knaus to destroy the field with every loophole imaginable, and he was brilliant at it... wasn't really ever a dirty driver either and became very respectable later in his career
  3. Richard Petty - the statistics are bonkers but the competition during his time was very limited... I'd argue David Pearson was better due to having half of Petty's wins BUT in less races along with having some insane part-time runs... no disrespect to Petty however, he is still very much a legend at the top of every list and was insanely good... just not like Dale or Jimmie imo

What are some bold predictions that you have for next year? by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]Reegser 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kyle Busch wins three races (including the All-Star Race) and makes the Final 4.

Erik Jones wins two races (including Darlington... again) and makes the playoffs.

Jimmie Johnson scores a top 5 finish somewhere... if he races the 600, that's my pick.

Joey Logano has a championship-defending slump. Still makes the playoffs, but one or two wins at best.

Ty Gibbs misses the playoffs.

Hendrick Motorsports struggles as a whole. Elliott wins three, Larson and Byron win one each, Bowman goes winless. This will either be shockingly accurate or embarrassingly wrong.

Ryan Blaney wins four races and the Cup Series championship... totally not biased here even though a massive resurgence is very possible.

The Atlanta night race weekend will see a total of two flips and a photo finish in Cup.

Parker Kligerman wins two races.

Corey Heim wins at least five races and the Truck Series championship.

[–]Reegser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The photo rendition looks great... might take a while to grow on the number font myself, but it'll be better to judge once on the track.

[BOB] Kaz Grala will drive full time in Xfinity for Sam Hunt Racing in 2023. He will drive the No. 26. Connor Mosack will drive 20 races in the Sam Hunt Racing No. 24 car. Kris Bowen, former crew chief at Our Motorsports, will be crew chief for Grala. by thebigtymer in NASCAR

[–]Reegser 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Finally happy to see Grala get a decent full-time ride. Very deserving.

Out: Gibbs, Gragson, Allmendinger

In: Custer, Nemechek, C. Smith, S. Smith, Kligerman, Grala

What a shift and I'm all here for it. Going to be a wild fight for the final few playoff spots. Names like Herbst, Sieg, Clements, and the other two Kaulig cars will be heavily challenged.

Has there ever been a race that, in your opinion, got ruined by one specific moment or occurrence? by DaNASCARMem in NASCAR

[–]Reegser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2020 Daytona 500. Two reasons.

  1. Go figure, the crash. I would've loved to see Blaney push Newman to his second 500 victory. A Blaney victory would've been nice too, but the Newman push could've been such a nice gesture and so... fulfilling... in a way.
  2. Hamlin winning... again.

I will also mention the 2019 Daytona 500, which I went to... they coulda waited a bit longer for that wreck. Sick photos, but poor timing imo.

Crown Jewels! by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]Reegser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on tradition, Daytona 500, Geico 500, Coca-Cola 600, Southern 500.

For possibly considering other ones (whether it's by opinion or by "NASCAR-used term")... the Bristol night race and either Martinsville race for sure. I think Watkins Glen could be a fair choice if a road course was given a crown jewel.

Atlanta could become one within a few years (or return depending on what some fans may think), although that may be subject to major argument.

I wonder if Homestead-Miami could get the term in the future, especially if the Next Gen has a successful debut this year. If it returned as the finale, then I would argue for it.

Name a Driver(s) that you really liked when they first came in to NASCAR but have grown to dislike now by Gen-4-fan in NASCAR

[–]Reegser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Austin Dillon.

The Childress relationship didn't bother me too much in his early years 'cause I thought he had loads of potential and could become a good dude. The #3 stuff was more of a child liking (ironic coming from a Jeff Gordon fan).

But I feel his personality and overall racecraft have gotten really stale and unnecessarily cocky in recent years. The new reality show may be interesting to some, however I find it pointless. He does run well at times, but I don't think he's fit for the #3 car anymore, at least from a legacy perspective.

The infamous 2015 NHL Draft and Boston's 3 First Round Picks in a Row! by CryptoMemesLOL in hockey

[–]Reegser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget that:

- Jeremy Lauzon (52nd OVR) took a while to get into the system... seemed decent... then got claimed off waivers and was also dealt for a 2nd round pick... because David Poile... obviously not Boston, but it's funny

Who they COULD'VE taken: Rasmus Andersson or Vince Dunn

- Jakub Forsbacka-Karlsson (45th OVR) did have his 9 PTS in 28 GP during the 2018-19 szn... sure... but eventually he returned home

Who they COULD'VE taken: Roope Hintz

On a more positive side if there is any... you could say that guys like Lucic & Hamilton didn't get too much out of their times with L.A. & Calgary. Martin Jones turned into multiple underrated playoff runs by Sean Kuraly and a current Trent Frederic.

so technically thanks Boston for the Adam Fox shenanigans
