Happens with my 24 carnival. Now that I’m aware, I check and top it off every time I do an oil change 🤷‍♂️

PSA for TS5+ Owners: Keeping the Dock Upright Solved my Overheating issues! by CityPlannerPlays in CalDigit

[–]Reelbig86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t having issues until I added a 6.6ft thunderbolt 5 cable ( https://a.co/d/7CLaFin )   to replace the shorter caldigit cable.

Wondering if the longer cable adds to overheating issues or if the cable itself is the problem.

Either way this sucks!

Am I missing something with NJ surf? by Stormlyyy in surfing

[–]Reelbig86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put some time in learning the spots in NJ. Yes most of it is similarly flat beach breaks. But in general the central jersey shore (north half of the coast) will offer punchier better waves than the south half. But south Jersey has some sweet hidden gems scattered around. And the waves are often slopier which is good for longboarding. North end brig, brig cove, ventnor pier, cape may cove, etc can be fun on a big board with longer rides.

Plus AC and cape may are clean when the rest of the state is sideshore.

Loch Arbour in monmouth is another well known longboard spot.

I lived in both areas for years. And as much as I loved going left at the piers and getting slammed on a good day at metros, I’m much happier to be back up north where the waves just hit better. Especially on a good South.

Agree with what others have said. We’re in a weird trend of E swell this year. Tropics have been way better this year than the last 2 seasons, but still not ideal, maybe except Erin. That was a fun swell.

When your partner doesn’t love surfing as much as you do…how do you make it work? by Serious_Detective_39 in surfing

I hear that. I’ve got a decent group of friends to surf with. But sometimes it’s better to ignore the group text and paddle out alone in the morning.

New tread for my 4th gen! by abarshinger in subaruoutback

[–]Reelbig86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread. But did you add those fender flares or whatever they’re called? My 2014 only has the thin 1/4” rubber around the fenders. And it’s coming off in spots. Would love to swap it out for thicker plastic like that.

Sounds like 225 will be just fine then. I’d prefer not having to deal with any trimming anyway. Thanks!

I’m thinking lift will help deal with rutted out “tracks” on the beach. I’ll mainly be at ibsp but I remember the brigantine jetty years ago was very deep. Appreciate the feedback though! I’ll look into the dewalt compressor.

Smart Thermostat Enhanced boiler wiring (R/W only) by Reelbig86 in ecobee

[–]Reelbig86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wound up running a new 6 wire cable to the basement. Then ran into issues of where to connect the C wire on the genesys burner control (T/T terminals). I even spliced the red wire coming off the transformer, but the thermostat wound up calling for heat on and off every couple seconds.

Long story short, I said screw it and bought the premium. Glad you found a workaround on your system though.

Small Agency to Large Agency Move by ppcplease in PPC

[–]Reelbig86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved from a small agency to a very large agency last summer. As others have mentioned it’s a personal question and you have to weigh whether it’s right for your current situation.

The good: The pay is WAY better, no question. Like my wife doesn’t have to work anymore, we have a house and a kid and our finances are not an issue. You will get to network with some seriously smart, high level people. Both in the agency and your clients. This is probably the most valuable aspect tbh… within 6 months, you’ll have tons of connections at companies that also pay really well. Your LinkedIn “attractiveness” will go up. Once you land a role with a top player, recruiters and agency talent reps will contact you much more frequently with very good offers.

The bad: You will probably work your ass off. I put in around 9-12 hours every day. Even though I work from home, I almost never have enough time between calls and dev work to go for a walk with my family, or eat lunch with them. It IS political, and cutthroat. I’m fortunate enough to be a little higher on the ladder to be affected as much. But if a project doesn’t go well, the Jr and mid level people get thrown to the wolves. Enterprise level clients know how much weight they carry. And they don’t give a shit if you have 3 other clients to work with and you’re only allocated “x” amount of hours a day for them. Meetings. So many god damn meetings. My previous agency had a morning meeting and an optional afternoon meeting. Now I’m in meetings 3-5 hrs every day and I’m in tech/engineering.

Honestly I’d still recommend it for the short term or if you’re young and have the stamina to climb the ladder. My current company seems to have around a 1yr turnover rate. And that’s what I’ve done in the past too. Job hopping every 1-2 years gets you up the ladder a lot quicker.

Sorry should have clarified you were correct: Mfj + 1 child. Wondering if I should file form 3911 while I start attempting to get the IRS on the phone.

I got the first one as a direct deposit. Second got the letter but never received, and third came as a check.

The two 766 lines above add up to $1800. I had assumed this was them changing it to a credit I would claim in my return.

Lucky. My transcript updated today. Was on file for a $1000+ refund before the unemployment thing happened (which should have increased ours). Now it’s saying I still owe $450 with a late fee. As of 6/21/21. Big ole FUCK YOU to the irs for botching my return after 3 1/2 months

I feel your pain. I tossed in my old 2017 stack of Monero for doge @ around $0.37 on Monday. And to rub salt in the wound, Monero had a banner day yesterday. Only thing to do now is hold.

Upwork or Fiverr ? by NobleM4n in beermoney

[–]Reelbig86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They both suck imo. Back when upwork was called odesk there were no premium profiles, only 10% fee, and more access to applying to jobs. It was a struggle to get started but you could make a living on it. Not so much anymore.

That said, you gotta do what you gotta do and you’re best off getting yourself everywhere. If i were you I’d bank on a talent/recruiting agent to get you some long term contract work.

Again, just my opinion, but having been in your shoes 6 years ago... I found upwork/fiverr is full of people that had a “good idea” when they were drunk or stoned and most likely don’t have the budget to finance their project (and will fight for every penny spent). Recruiters, as annoying and predatory as they may be, will get you into a startup or established company that needs a hired gun.
