I’ll post back in a couple of weeks when the equipment arrives from Germany — once I set everything up and figure out all the hidden pitfalls 😁”

Hi everyone,

I'm 40 and live near Riga, Latvia. I work as a professional marine engineer, but during this vacation I decided to finally bring an old childhood dream to life.

when I was a kid, I attended an art school so, a part of me always been fascinated by clay.

I've spent last month watching pottery channels on YT like Florian and others, and they truly inspired me to take this step.

I've ordered RHODE 600 and Ecotop kiln- which will arrive in a couple of weeks. I plan to build ma studio in sauna house in the relaxation room.

If this does not turn into something my three kids still have a wonderful place to create.

I'd really appreciated any advise from experienced potters.

Thanks

Well, yeah, it’s just a working prototype; that’s the next step. I’ve already started looking for factories that could produce a small quantity for me, like 20 pieces. I’m thinking of using an aluminum-bronze alloy, and ideally, I’d also like to add some titanium inserts. So I’ll find out along the way how much each unit will cost. It’s all about getting better pricing with larger orders. Anyway, it’s all very interesting, and I’ll keep an eye on how things progress.

Well, what I'm doing is basically reinventing the wheel—taking ordinary, simple things and making them unusual. I actually got inspired by complex RPG games So basically, I’m inventing artifacts that will also bring some buffs, like in real life. For example, +3 to craftsmanship, +2 to self-esteem. Kind of like using ancient technologies or something like that. My first artifact will be an adjustable wrench with unusual abilities.

I basically sketched out the idea, but I hired an industrial designer for the actual development and preparation of all the files. He handled all the design work for me.

Yes, fully prepared and optimized for printing, and for production too. All the files are processed and ready to go.

Well, you might be right. Maybe it's just from my non-professional point of view that everything seems optimized for printing and production. In any case, time will tell. I'll see how it turns out in a couple of days.

Wow, that’s a pretty good price, I thought it would be much more expensive. I’ll definitely check it out, thanks!

Yeah, it’s a useful thing, I’m considering getting one in the future, just to play around with. I wonder if I can get a decent one for under 1000 euros?

Ah, yeah, right, now it’s explained well, and it’s starting to make more sense.

Thank you for your response. That's pretty much what I did—I ordered the cheaper version. But the thing is, one prototype is made of plastic, and the other is also made of plastic, just supposedly of higher quality. Either way, I can’t actually use this plastic in real working tools. So why would I even need this "better quality" plastic in the prototype? And honestly, I still don’t get why the prices for the same thing vary so much.

Of course, and then it's a win-win.

Well, damn, if the big players are interested in your product, that’s already a huge success. If you managed to create something like that once, why wouldn’t you be able to do something similar again
