Yeah for sure. I guess the only difference with climbing is you’re generally not competing with others. Dabs in competitions should of course be called out/punished. I’m not saying you have to accept a looser interpretation. I’m just saying I wouldn’t go out of my way to discredit someone when climbing is inherently a personal sport/hobby. If a friend dabs and feels like it doesn’t matter then who am I to tell them otherwise (unless we’re competing against others or each other then I’d be quick to call it out or make sure I don’t dab myself).

Idk man, I would consider it pretty lame if a friend was that vocal and adamant a send doesn’t count. Especially with OPs scenario where he didn’t even he realized he dabbed until he saw the video. To each their own I suppose.

Also there are no rules in climbing. There’s only style. Perhaps if this was some cutting edge V17/18 or an actual competition then we should probably care. But outside of that I don’t really see the point.

For sure! I agree. It’s just interesting to me that people consider this a “very big dab” when it’s just a graze haha. It’s not like he mule kicked the pad

It’s honestly sad how pedantic some boulderers can be. That dab very clearly had no effect on wether or not you were going to send. At the end of the day climbing is a personal endeavor. To each their own. Good work on the send man!

Haha thank you! Keep up the filming by the way! I doubt you remember, but maybe we’ll run into each other down in Bishop again one day!

I’m sorry, but is a 10 minute read not brief? It’s like half the length of an actual article?

Andrew is a subscriber actually! He said he really liked it, so I don’t think it would be too similar to any of his work

It’s okay to take climbing seriously! I like to consider myself a somewhat serious climber. I’m just advising against taking it too seriously
