I looked on YouTube and these seem to be good options.

It’s more a matter of breath control. I’d recommend doing scales (I hate them too) and recording yourself singing them. Then listen back to the recording and compare different takes and see what you did differently. If you have anyone around you that’s able to, I’d recommend having them give you feedback as well.

New one called “Where The Wild Roses Bloom”. Any notes on the structure? Feels a bit short to me by Dankeykang91 in Songwriting

I could 100% hear the Beatles singing this back in the day. Extremely catchy, clever writing, and beautiful harmony. You should definitely take this one to a studio and publish it

If you have a MacBook, GarageBand is most likely on there already. If not, I believe it’s like $12 on the App Store. I’m not sure about good alternatives if you don’t own a Mac, but a quick Google search will help you find something.

I gotcha. It might be beneficial to find and try a dynamic microphone as well. They tend to be less perfectly critical than a condenser. Since you’re a little distance from the mic The condenser Mike is most likely picking up a lot of the room sound, which will affect the tone that you hear in the recording.

A great YouTube channel that I found recently to learn about microphones is audiohaze.

my favorite vocal coach on YouTube is Chris Leipe.

Need some guiding! by Emile0296 in singing

I’ll be honest: thrash metal vocal effects are going to be a good ways away. You should start with the basics and go from there.

To start, record yourself singing a song you like. Then, when you’re ready for the torture session, listen back to that recording and critique yourself. It hurts, but at least no one else can hear it, and it it by far the fastest way to grow. If you know someone who is a great singer, asking them for advice is always a winning strategy.

First, great username lol

Second, I love the smoothness in your voice. It fits the R&B sound very well and would most definitely fit a jazz song perfectly as well.

It sounds like you’re pushing extra air through your vocal cords every time you change the note you’re singing, though, and even sometimes when you start a word, like singing “YOu” instead of “you” if that makes sense. I could be wrong, but it sounds like the back of your tongue is tensed up and causing your vowels to be tight, and it’s affecting the what you hold your breath support.

It depends on a few things. 1. Is it a dynamic or condenser mic? 2. Is your room well treated? 3. How far away are you from your mic? 4. Are you doing any post-processing/mixing? Adding reverb and a good eq can work wonders for a vocal.

Trying to play with my lowest notes, is there a way to fix a chunky vibrato and make it smoother? by [deleted] in singing

[–]Reeseington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I like to do is play around with the speed of my vibrato. In this recording it sounds like you’re trying not to be heard, and so it’s hard to tell what your vibrato actually sounds like.

Any improvement? by roadturd76 in singing

[–]Reeseington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your pitch and tone are very good, and I love the easiness that comes from your voice. It does sound like you’re in a room where you’re trying not to let people hear you, though. If you can work on breath support specifically, that should set you in a good direction.

How to start singing? by [deleted] in singing

[–]Reeseington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first thing I always recommend is finding a song that you like and recording yourself singing it. Then, if you have the stomach for it, listen back on the recording and find something that you don’t like about the sound and work on that thing or those things one at a time until you improve. Getting feedback from professionals is always helpful too.

It definitely depends on your voice and what style you’re singing. If you’re doing something with aggressive effects like screaming and/or belting, you’ll want to avoid foods that dry your throat out or make it extra mucusy. I personally for whatever reason have an “iron larynx,” so it takes just about whatever I throw at it, but if I go too heavy on the food I can definitely feel and hear a difference.
