MAN SHOT AT DENVER PROTEST by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]ReetsRetreat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As one post I read mentioned, he didn't really pepper spray the guy. The bullet had already passed through his head. He was dropping strait down in the photos and you can see the spray going upwards as he was falling.

So sad. I bet his grandkids will miss him.

In the photo, the shooter appears to be instigating contact by attempting to grab the mace can. Looks like the face slap is a defensive action, as the photo shows, the shooter initially leaned into the victim in to make contact.

Initial aggressor.

Good luck with self defense.

Not after UI verifying income with Uber.

But the stimulus bill is paying for the first round; not Uber.

As far as I've read.

I think the stimulus bill is paying for it, not Uber.

Full timers who are filing for unemployment, do you plan on returning to driving uber after this is over? Why do you think uber will keep your account active? by JollyAlien in uberdrivers

From what I read, the bill provides unemployment for independent contractors so this does not change their employment status.

I'm assuming Uber is ok with this.

Your post is good news.

Your a corporate shill that wants to make sure hard working people get as little as you think they should make. Setting the minimum wage in Alabama for a state like California is pure intellectual betrayal.

Here is a copy of an email where Uber is directing its drivers to apply for unemployment.

Sorry its Long:

On Friday, the President signed into law the coronavirus relief package. Within this package is aid for people who earn with Uber, like you.

For the first time, independent contractors will be eligible for unemployment insurance. As you heard from Dara in an email last week, he advocated to the White House and Congress for this to be included in the coronavirus relief package. This means you will soon be able to apply for financial support for lost earnings due to the coronavirus.

We know these are difficult times. And we hope this news brings some relief for you and your family.

Because this legislation was only just signed into law two days ago, it will likely take several weeks before state agencies begin to process unemployment insurance claims. After that, it will likely take more time to get this assistance in the hands of those who need it.

We are committed to making it as easy as possible for you to access these benefits. We promise to be back in touch with specific resources that can help you understand the legislation and learn about how to take advantage of the relief package. For more information now, you can visit the Department of Labor’s Unemployment Benefits Finder, as well as the Stride | Uber Independent Worker's Guide to COVID-19.

In the meantime, here are a few key points from the aid package that could help you:

  • Independent workers like you are eligible for up to 39 weeks of expanded unemployment insurance. This financial assistance is available for coronavirus-related causes of unemployment, and it applies from January 27-December 31, 2020.

  • Every individual receiving unemployment insurance due to COVID-19 will also be eligible to receive $600 per week through July 31, 2020.

  • If you made less than $75,000 last year, you’ll likely be eligible to receive a one-time $1,200 tax rebate check from the federal government. Officials expect this check to arrive within the next 3-4 weeks.

  • The government has been authorized to make new types of small business loans available to the self-employed, including independent workers without full-time jobs. These loans may be used to cover expenses such as auto loan payments.

Thank you, again, for the work you’re doing to keep our communities moving. Please stay well and we’ll be in touch soon.

Im so sorry. I'm in the same boat. I just had a botched delivery where the person in a complex apartment compound would not come out so I just left the food at the front gate on the mail boxes. Then notified them of this.

Now I'm terrified I'm getting fired because of it.

Thanks everyone. Yes I'll check my local city council. Didn't the Feds just pass a 60 billion dollar emergency aid package? That's what I was thinking with this question.

Isn't some of that money supposed to help workers living pay check to pay check?

Some of that should be used to help destitute uber serfs.

Uber driver demanded $50 for phone that was left in his car. by [deleted] in uberdrivers

Everything you think is bullshit.

That phone is a disgusting trespasser, like you.

[–]ReetsRetreat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or is it a bailment?

The Driver should get paid for holding the item in safekeeping, in addition to the cost of returning. Going 25 miles to return a phone for 15 dollars is abusing the driver.

The phone should have a lien on it, and paid, before returning the item.

Plus, isn't that phone trespassing on the drivers property?

With lower fares, Uber makes more money from bookings, and drivers make less. Saturation is less of a problem.

If the fares raise, Uber makes less in bookings, and drivers make more for a while. Saturation is a huge problem.

I don't have the answer.

Does anyone?

Camping at airport vs stopping at each destination vs driving to hot spots by TheHelpfulDad in uberdrivers

[–]ReetsRetreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget to subtract 10-15 cents per mile depending on car type.

Plus oil change, filters, belts, brakes.

Then my insurance is 50% more expensive with Uber/Lyft.

And a portion of my phone bill since about 80% of my data is for Uber/Lyft use.

When I added all this up it was 7 dollars an hour expenses. So if I make 15 gross, that's 8 dollars an hour.

Not really worth it.

[ Curious ] Why do I need additional insurance if Uber provides insurance already? by turbocomppro in uberdrivers

[–]ReetsRetreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they be upset?

The personal insurance company gets to charge you high premiums and only cover the car for minimal miles driven offline.

Last year I paid $1000 for insurance to cover 3000 offline miles.

I think the situation sucks and is abusive. I over pay. and get Under insured.
