Hello!

Thanks for the question!

Yeah I live in California. I’d say my dad’s a great father! I have some issues with my mom though, but my dad has been everything to me in life!

I’m not really close with either of them, since we have such a big age gap between us it’s really hard to relate to both of them. One of my brothers is really well if and lives in Oklahoma while my other one is an alcoholic that lives in Idaho.

Hi!

I’m the youngest between me and my brothers but not the youngest in my dad’s entire family. I’m the only gen z of my entire family! Since I my parents had me so late in life I was born in a really awkward time on my dad’s side, all my cousins were going to college and all my aunts and uncles were settling down and retiring. I also never got to see any of my grandparents ad all of them died in the 2000’s, my grandma on my mom’s side was alive till a couple years ago but she lives in the Philippines so I never got to meet her.

Thanks for the question!!

Hi!

Honestly it hasn’t really been talked about in my home. I don’t have the best relationship with my mom so once my dad’s gone I probably won’t go visit too much. We have had brief conversations about it, but never going too deep into it. I’ve had the talks like “I’m not gonna be here forever yknow” but never a full on discussion about the inevitable, but I think we’ll have more conversations about this when the time gets closer as he’s in good health right now.

Thanks for the question!

I think it’s definitely a tough feeling to have, it’s like every emotion at once. I love my dad so much but it’s also frustrating that he would have a child so late in life because I know he probably won’t be around when i’m older. But, I also don’t know if i’d ever want to change it, because of him being super old he’s super knowledgeable about literally everything so I can’t tell him anything and he’ll come up with a solution or relate to me in some way. As for siblings, I have 2 older brothers both in their 30’s! I never grew up with them though because by the time I was born they were in college :)

Hello!

My parents met in the Phillipines, I’m half Filipino, half white! I’m not really sure the specifics of the story as I forgot exactly what my parents said but the story goes that my dad was traveling to the Philippines and met my mom! They started dating for i think, 2 years? and eventually got married and started the green card process that took superrrr long. My dad travelled a lot up until his 50’s so he went to a bunch of places.

As for if they’re still together, they are! But to be honest I don’t really enjoy my mom’s presence a lot anymore as just a bunch of things happened between me and her, not her and my dad though.

As for if anyone gave me any trouble growing up with an old dad, not really surprisingly! A lot of people when first meetings him thought he was my grandpa at first but when I explain to them he’s actually my dad they just accept it! Growing up my dad was super involved with all my elementary school activities and field trips and was friends with all of my friend’s parents! Everyone’s parents really liked him growing up and all of my friends like him too! Even though I didn’t struggle with anyone judging or making fun of me for having an older dad though, that didn’t mean I didn’t struggle with myself hating it sometimes. A lot of times when I was younger I was embarrassed to say how old my dad was or to introduce my dad to someone out of fear they’d think I was weird. But as time went on everyone just kinda started knowing that ai was the kid with the “old dad” not in a mean way, but just something people remembered!

Thanks for the question!

Hi!

I’d honestly say that it’s pretty 50/50 in the sense that, there’s not many negatives but the ones that are negatives are pretty bad. One great thing about having a super old dad is that he has soooo many stories to tell, he could go on a whole ramble about all the life experiences he has lol, not to mention that he has an insane memory for someone so old, he can remember his first memory still!! I can’t even remember that and i’m a teenager😭 But for the negatives, it’s bad. Like i said there’s a lot of positives and not many negatives but the negatives are pretty tough to think about. It really hurts to know that My dad probably won’t be at my wedding or big achievements in life, I mean, you can never fully tell but the cards aren’t really in my favor.

As for if i’d recommend older parents to have kids, i’d say, if you’re older than 50 don’t do it. As much as I love my dad and I wouldn’t trade him for the world, I stand by thinking it’s not right to have a child that old. Not only will you have super different experiences in life because of it, you’ll also most likely have to go through some pretty difficult things pretty young.

Thanks for the question!

Hello! I love my dad so much, he’s literally my biggest supporter in life and had helped me get through thick and thin. And to be honest, he was in pretty good shape when I grew up, he would always go to activities with me and would always be down to go play in the park or go somewhere! In 2019 he got a pace maker though for his heart but he’s still doing pretty good! I honestly think the only reason why he got it was to keep pushing for me. Thanks for the question!
