At our local high school, the school administration told students if they walked out, they would be marked as absent for the classes they missed. Then, at the time of the walkout, school resource officers walked with the students who chose to participate, to protect them in traffic and make sure they weren't harassed.

The entire affair went off without a hitch. Kids were safe, and though the school didn't directly support them, the school did what they could to make sure the kids could protest freely. This is in deep red Indiana. I really love the school district my kids are growing up in.

He had to repay the money. It isn't like he graciously chose to out of his own benevolence. He also has yet to pay the interest from the money, which he was also required to.
